Sorry Metroid, this looked so good.

I waited for this game for a year, and I played First Hunt more times than you can count, and in this hope I expected a good game with balanced features that would keep me enthralled, but I think that Nintendo didn't catch me this time. First off, the graphics for the ds are great. I'm not complaining and the immensity of the levels is wonderful with minor textures and colorful battle areas. Also, I don't mind the concept. I acutally think that the storyline is interesting as you are sent out to reclaim artifacts to build the ultimate weapon and you have to fight bounty hunters all over the galaxy. The real problem comes with the mechanics of play. The demo had a style of play where you could touch the screen and that is where you shoot. When you dragged the stylus, then you moved your view. IT was fantasic in every way. Why didn't they include this in the game? I don't know. Playing the game in standard mode forces you to wrap your whole hand around the ds and your fingers just never feel natural. With some time, this became better, but I shifted my hands alot to do different things which took time, and there is no way to look cool. You're alone among friends when playing this game. Also, the open ended way that you had to chase hunters around the galaxy was a little too open ended for me. When playing I like to feel like there is a sense of purpose, but I felt that there weren't enough plot elements to really pull me in. I'm sure that the multiplayer was well done, but I got creamed every time. And again, this is my most common grip with the wifi service. There ought to be a level system so that noobs can play noobs without getting pwned everytime. I like to win sometimes, and perhaps get better and move up, but I end up dying so fast that I can't get better. Overall, If you really like Metroid, the 3d versions, this is a great game. But for those of us who yearn for the simplicity of the Super Metroid and the 2d sidescrollers, this isn't it. If they had kep the control scheme of First Hunt, it would have gotten a better score, but I apologize to all you who loved this game. I've traded this one back in for Tetris DS and Brain Age.

Best Metroid to date... Case Closed!

Not many bad things can be said about this game so... Let's start off with the good. Okay, single player adventure is amazing, lots of creatures but was it neccesary to make 4 versions of several enemies? Besides I love the fact that there are different planets instaed of one that you travel around. However I think there should have been more than 4 planets though. Environments were still very well put toghether, and fighting the six other hunters was amazing. I think the only real noticeable downfall of the story mode is the huge lack of variety in bosses, there are only two types of bosses with 4 versions of each type and the final boss is different. The log book could have been better, the only way you could access it was through your ship and there was no pictures like in previous Metrooid games. Also an auto-aim feature would have been very helpful. There is a bit of a learning curve for the controls using the stylus but once you get it, it's easy, You can choose from 4 different control schemes. Me I prefer to play without the stylus, but I can still play with the stylus. Now on to the multiplayer. This is drastically improved over its console bretheren, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes with its god awful multiplayer. You no longer have to play as Samus Aran(main character). You can play as one of six other hunters each with its own strentghs and weaknesses. Weavel, Kanden, Sylux, Spire, Noxus, and Trace. They each have there own weapons and alternate-forms. My personal favorite is Noxus. The arenas are amazing ranging from small mayhem zones to large battlefields. There are 6 different modes besides standard point driven timed deathmatch aka Battle. Overall, good graphics and spectacular multiplayer outweigh the minor downfalls of the single-player. Hunters has gone past where other First Person Shooters have gone on the DS and buried there asses into the ground.

Metroid Prime Hunters

My favorite game for the DS, is Metroid Prime Hunters. The multiplayer matches are fast and intense, and only slows down a little. Sound is great too, especially with headphones on. The contorls are a little cramped, I prefer using the stylus rather than the ABYX to aim. In my opinion, this is the best DS game ever made (so far) and I command you to go to the nearest store and buy it. Now.

The DS's True Form!

i bought this game thinking that it would be a good game but not better than a consle game! It is a whole game not some cut out of a gamecube game with half the stuff it is the full thing. The only problem with the game is the controlls can be a little slopy and online mach making could use some work.

If you have a DS, get it now. If you don't, get a DS and then get it.

What more can be said about Metroid Prime Hunters? The game is great. The graphics are absolutly beautiful for a DS game, sometimes riviling the PSP. The gameplay is the best Metroid has to offer. The shooting is precise, accurate, and above all fun. The morph ball has changed from the First Hunt demo, but for the better. It instantly responds to the D pad or the stylus. The sound shows off the best that the DS can offer. The addition of other bounty hunters really adds depth to the Metroid universe. Each character has special abilitys, though they play similarly. And the online play, oh the online play, is incredible. Remember the feeling you first got playing Halo 2 online? Multiply that by 10 and you have Metroid Prime Hunters. If I were being picky, I'd say that the control takes a little getting used to, but using the touch screen to aim blows away any 2 analog setup. This is the game the DS has been waiting for.

The ultimate fps on handhelds period

This game is awesome. It starts out with an opening video that shows off the ds's power. This game looks good. Screenshots and videos don't do it justice. Their are so many small graphics touches that have you appreciting all the work put into the creation of this title. The control is dead on. I personally love using the thumbstrap. I will admit this is the only game I enjoy using the thumbstrap for. Multiplayer is deep and challenging. This games single player mode is just as satisfying, even if it's shorter than the gamecube Metroid. I can't say enough to convene how freaktasicaly awesome this game is. However some may be put off by the inability to customize buttons contorol functions individualy. If you are a hardcore gamer this game is a perfect addition to your library. If your more casual download the demo from a friend and play it. The only hurdle is controling your bounty hunter. It is easliy done once you've got the controls down. This wasn't an issue to me. The controls felt natural from the start. Some players may face a more of a learning curb than others. Regardless this is the most beutiful, impressive, and playable ds games ever, period. Go check it out. You won't regret it.
