Don't get me wrong, I love Kingdom Hearts and the whole universe that it comes along with. Naturally, when this game came out I bought it right away expecting a great intro to the second stab at the game. What I found was a remake of the first game. While the gameplay is fun I'd have to say that it feels like 90% of what I'm doing in Chain of Memories is what I did in the original. I was expecting much more new stuff but I was a little disappointed. To make it even worse I thought that the card system the game uses was dumb. Leave the cards to Yugioh please!!
Spectacular game!!!

WOW!This is seriously good.I still don't understand why Gamepro gave a 3.5 Anyway the game uses a card battle system, but it's not as complicated as it sounds. You merely press A to use say an attack card to perform an attack, and press A repeatidly to start up a combo. It's pretty much the same as in KH but more stratigic. The story is good with a couple of plot twists, and the bosses are fun to fight. The only problem i have with this game is that navigating through the worlds is too easy, since all you have to do use the card to open a few doors. It is still a great game and every GBA owner should get it.

Kingdom Hearts 1.5 (Chain of Memories) is the link to KH I and II. While surprizingly addictive with the crazy things happening to Sora and the gang, the battle system is quite weird (Im not going to get in to it that much because we have the guys at Gamepro for that). Revisiting the good ole disney worlds added a bit of nostalgia. Overall, I think its the best Kingdom Hearts for the GBA...... because its the only.

KHCOM was brutally reviewed in the February edition of gamepro magazine. I'd like the oportunity to defend said video game title, as a loyal fan of RPG's in general, and of the Kingdom Heart series. Some things ring true, the new card battle system does take some getting used to, yet as you level up (the point of ALL rpg's) I found that choosing the correct cards got easier, and placing them in your deck accordingly played an enormous part in winning your battles. At first it may seem frustrating, but as you progress the game stays excitingly difficult and challenging, and the option to replay the game (I won't spoil the suprise) was a gift worthy for the gods. I won't say that some aspects are laking, such as character animations and the map layouts, which seem to only recieve a new color scheme every level, the battle sounds and map sounds are a bit lifeless but this IS the GBA not the PS2 and SquareEnix worked with what they had beautifully. All in all, if you are looking for an exciting rpg, that WILL take some time to complete if you bother to level up, were battles are prone to take a while like TRUE rpg's, and where patience is definetely a virtue but it rewards in the end, go, make haste and play this awesome intallment to the Kingdom Hearts series.
The game of 2004.WOW!!!

The original Kingdom Hearts was one of the strangest ideas ever. A melding of Final Fantasy and... Donald Duck? Despite its odd idea it was a great game. Chain of Memories is another fabulous game. The first thing you will notice is the sound quality, right at the new game screen it plays that good old tune from the first game's menu screen. The you are launched into an incredible 3D cutscene thats ends with you in a strange castle, being guided by a mysterious hooded figure. Your task is to play through Sora's old memories from the first game to make your way through the castle and rescue Riku and Mickey. Finally, the game's strongest attribute is the battle system. Much like the old one it is in an action enviroment, however now you have a deck of cards with wich to beat down your enemies. Cards include standard attack cards, magic cards, item cards and friend cards. You have complete power over your decks too, you can build and store up to three decks and are allowed to stack them so that certain combos called "Sleights" can be performed. Last but not least is the return of all your favorite heartless and disney villians, such as Hades, the giant heartless and more (yes even the Fat Bandit enemy). All in all, this game rocks, with complete customization of Sora, a great battle system and memorable characters, you really cant go wrong with Chain of Memories.

This game is great. There I said it. When I heard this game was based around cards I thought it would be very dumb. But they blended it very well into the gameplay so when your in a battle you don't even think about the cards. The game starts out right where the first Kingdom Hearts left off. Sora and company wander into a wierd castle and come to find out the castle is erasing there memory. So you must go through worlds from the first game and regain the lost memory. The graphics on this game are incredible. The starting cutscene uses PS2 graphics and the gameplay graphics are amazing as well. The game is in a overhead diagnol kind of camera angel and it works pretty well. The sound is great also. All the music from the Ps2 game has been put onto the GBA and it sounds great. They even have Sora saying "Take This" and such. Overall this a very good game and it is defintently worth the $40.00 you are willing to spend on it. This is my favorite GBA game besides Metroid Zero Mission. Go and buy this game now!!
