This was a pretty good game but i found it kind of boring but the joy of constantly killing people was fun.

Hit and Miss gameplay at best. Major Mike nailed it when he said the game is stop and go. The stealth missions do offer some interesting story, but they feel like a waste of time. I want to be hacking limbs with my guillotine move, but instead I am frustratingly poking around the senate house....again....to find another senator....again. There is a little puzzle solving in the stealth, which is refreshing, but still I would play MGS if I want to sneak around and kill. As for the gladiator fun, it starts 3 full hours after the game begins. The first mission you get a taste of a small arena fight, then the game goes to backstory for a long time with is REALLY REALLY lame. I want the crowd to chear me on, I don't care to kill barbarians with no skills and hack them up without my audience. When you do get the the gladiator stuff though it is fun, if not formulamatic. MIssions like break the statues kinda kill the fun, but rescue missions, free for alls, and clear the rooms are a blast. Not to mention sound fun animal fights. In the end, if you can circle strafe your enemies (which I hope everyone can by now) the game is not hard, and it is in fact frustrating overall. If you can sift throught the long non-skipable cut scenes with cheesy dialogue, and the 3 hour time before the gladiator stuff, have a ball!

What are you gonna do today, play shadow of rome, gosh. it is flippin' sweeeet and has a great concept that with the character switching and gameplay change can be hit or miss... lucky it hits like a precise bowhunter. This game kicks harder than Rex Kwan Do and i must recommend it to you all so get it on like dqwon. the graphics are awe inspiring with its sequences and the battles are above average and just sneaking around rome is pretty detailed and generally enjoyable. but this game is all about violence and that is where it is best at captivating the imagination. the only downside is there are no untamed ligers or 2player mode. lay off the fun-packs and save up for SOR, it beats tetherball.

friends, romans, gamers, lend me your controllers for shadow of rome has been released after much anticipation since its e3 preview. capcom thrusts you into an all too real reincarnation of ancient rome amidst the assasination of caesar setting the backdrop for a gory adventure. using unique character switching, SOR enlists the brute centurion agrippa and the slimmer brainier octavianus to give a duality of fighting and stealth that enhances the level of gameplay. i think the stealth is a welcome respit to the constant carnage of agrippa's parts and it is reminiscent of metal gear solid at its finest. the grandeur of SOR is very cinematic graphically like the movie gladiator and i was impressed with the fluidity of the game and movement, similar to ominusha. overall a classic hack-n-slash with a deatly intense new twist with the only thumbs down being the emperors to signal your opponents murder.

Every once and a while a game comes out that totally shocks and suprises the gaming world, and SOR certainly surprised me, to say the least. For starters this genre has had a few dismal titles in recent years, i mean LucasArts Gladius wasnt recieved as it was percieved, and lets not comment on the below average Gladiator Sword of Vengance, that said SOR is the best game in this genre [on console] i ever played. At first glance [before i even touched the controller] the cinematics looked like they were on the Onimusha engine, thats good by the way. I enjoyed the game very much, nice ancient historical story, the names were awesome [i mean Octavianus, Sextus, come on] I thought i was watching a episode of Hercules or something, anyway the controls were dead on, and very responsive, the music for the gladiatorial games was dead on, and inspiring, i felt the need to slay. The stealth missions with Octavianus were fun, especially when they called for switching clothes and answering the questions, which is a very good feature Capcom put in this game. It forces the player to pay attention to whats going on, when you first grab the disguise of one of the senate members, a guy asks you "Do you know what the senate meeting's about?" if you weren't paying attention you could answer "to appoint a new security member" or something like that. More stealth based games that let you steal your enemies outfits should learn a lesson here. This is Capcoms first attempt at this, and truthfully speaking i want a sequel. Boss fights aren't as easy as regular skirmishes, they require better timing and strategy, all and all the game rocks, definetely worth buying, but hey you could always rent first. YoungHak

i really dont understand what the big deal everyone is making about this so called plot twist and how raiden is a little "girly boy" i thought the game was tight. maybe its because i didnt play the first game but i still think this game rocked. ive beaten theres fun extra things you can do like hold-up an enemy solider or sneek around in russian uniforms and have people believe you are russian! so i dont know why so many people are jointin this game.
BRILLIANT!!

Judging from the demo fans of the classic hack'n slash formula have something big, and beautiful, to look forward too. Shadows of Rome promises to be an exilerating and gory excursion during the political strife caused by Ceasar's assassination. The game already looks great. Seeing the sun at high noon over the city of Rome, high cliffs, and dense forests would be enough to steal the show if that headless man wasn't so distracting. Yup, this game will be stamped mature with a capital M. Buckets of Plasma will be spilled and men will be stuck with spears like pincushions. The game will also feature chariot racing, which looks like it will get the blood pumping. But stealth missions will also be incorporated, which should make it interesting to see whether the game strikes the right balance between action and stealth. Look for this one in the winter.
