Jade Empire is one of the only games that combines martial arts, RPG and multiple story lines and outcomes. This game was a wonderful experience the whole way around. The graphics are beautiful. The action and fighting is seemless and can prove to be quite a challange, not in a bad way though. The game play mechanincs definetly are sound as well. If you have not played this game and have either an xbox or a 360, you should pick this game up. By now it can't be that expensive and it is a good solid game.
KOTOR 1.5

After the smash hit that was Knights of the Old Republic one would expect Bioware to make a sequel. Which is just what Bioware did in a way. Jade Empire improves on the formula in KOTOR, by including updated graphics, better mini games, more character classes, and unfortunatley more loading times. Once again the gamer can play the game as either good or bad. The descions you make can affect the members that will join your partty, and items you can use. Jade Empire only takes about 20 hours to complete which is good if you want to play though again with another character as either good or bad. On th eother hand the story is not as engrossing as KOTOR was due to the short play time. The live fighting sytem in an RPG adds a good kick to the genre.Your character can upgrade Health, Spirit, or Focus depending on your class. Several attack styles, weapons, & magic give the player plenty of fighting options. Jade Empire's many options adds high replay value. If you are not content to just paly KOTOR 2 buy Jade Empire.

I give this RPG a 5 since personally I think it could possibly be the best out of all of them. I love how the setting is taking place in old time China. It's fun to chose Open Palm(good), or Closed Fist(evil). I also like the idea of having 3 differnt endings; so you can chose how you want to beat the game. To conclude I say its a good game all around. -Steph

WOW!!! A Great game that should not be missed, brought to u by the guys who made KOTOR. I thought this was one of the best RPG's i have ever played. STORY A wonderful story and magnificent cut secnes. You start out in a small quaint village in a school for the martial arts gifted. Soone enough you are enthrwaled in a world of lies and decite not knowing who to trust and who to follow. The story keeps u guessing till the very end. Not knowing when a major twist is coming as in KOTOR. Sicne it cmae form Bioware one can expect that it will have major plot twists. I dont want to spoil the end for u so jsut go buy the game to find out. (hint* dont belive everythgin you here) FIGHTING Its real time and in your face. The game brings Kung-fu into real time. EVery chacter has a certian streght and weakness (ex. speed for strength, Knowlege for focus). There are about 15-20 styles one can learn with a secret style and chacter in the limetd eddition version. Also the begging tutorial is wonderful so anyoen can pick it up and know whats goin on. The bosses were very challenging and took some quick thinking to defeat. The final boss is not as hard as the boss before. (hint* the second to last boss requires u to use a dfferent style than him). There is an area in the game in which a player cna hone ther skills agaist one or multiple opponents. Love the fighting system!!! GRAPHICS HEART STOPPING AWW STRUCK JAW DROPPING BEATUIFULLNESS. PROBLEMS One major flaw in the game stuck out. THE DAMN LOADING TIMES!!!!!! It was ridiculous i may accidently get hit backwards in a fight and have to wait 5 minutes just to continue thefight. IT was so annoyign that i ended up being able to micorwave a hot pocket, eat it,& do the dishes and not miss a beat in the game. Besides that there we not that many daunting flaws in the game. Just a few invisable walls, freeze ups, and unruly camera's just the normal stuff.
Excellent game.. the first time.

I really enjoyed this game. Great story, great graphics, pretty good voice acting, nice sound effects, very likeable characters... The loading times were particularly long, however... I played it through the first time on Master difficulty, and once finished, was never really tempted to pick it up and try it on Grandmaster difficulty. So if you want a quick fix, buy this game. (takes about 50 hours to finish, tops) Don't count on playing it again and again, though.

After spending countless hours in at least fifty different games levelling up my scantilly clad elf women and finding that new plus 5 strength sword, I thought I had seen everything RPG's had to offer. Then Bioware broke the mold and gave us KOTOR, a game that took us out of ork filled dungeons and into a familiar universe of blasters and lightsabers. And now Bioware continues to surprise with Jade Empire, but with less flare then before. Veterans of KOTOR will feel right at home during the exploration and story sequences. The choose your own adventure type gameplay and high quality voice acting for every entity in the game has returned. But alot of the plot devices are surprisingly cliched. As a student at a martial arts school, your master is suddenly kidnapped and the town sacked. Just as he was going to reveal your destiny. Then a search for parts of a medallion and finding out that you are the last of a cool order. All seen before. But some of the smaller plot twists are surprisingly, well surprising. And keep the game's story from feeling too familiar. The big innovation was supposed to be the combat system. Although mixing up the styles adds alot of strategy, the extremely small amount of moves for each style and the sometimes awkward camera causes the game to degenerate into a simple button masher. The harmonic combos alleviate this somewhat, but even that gets a bit boring after a while. But what isn't boring are the mystically beautiful environments and backstory in Jade Empire. The world actually feels like it could exist, as every expertly detailed area has a history and population with real feelings. This only serves to make it a greater shame that there weren't more places to visit in the game though, since there are only two real towns and a handfull of locations to fight in. But all in all, it's nice to see a game that isn't set in a medieval universe filled with orks again. And it's pretty fun to play, for veterans of Kotor or otherwise.
Great Game, but who hates load times? Me.

Great game, no doubt about that, but i have to say that these load times are absolutely awful. Also, there are side quests (optional) that certainly help but at times get very tedious and boring, and compounding the impact of load times can make for an awfully boring game play at times. But there are a lot of features that needs to be mentioned, different characters to choose from, different abilities, weapons, upgrades and you can fly. Decent control and pretty good graphics really make this game a good buy.

"Game of the Year" for 2005

This has been one of the games I've been looking forward to playing since I first heard of it. When you first start to play the game you choose your character: edit his name(if you wish), and assign your skill points. From there your are put into the game, and you start out as a student at a school learning the ways of your master. Throught the game you can choose what type of character you will be through the dialogue you pick through when speaking to other characters. Throughout the game you learn the ways of the Empire and the secrets it holds. Learning new styles of combat as you go along, and training to be a legend in your own right. With a very emersive story, and a very good fighting system it seems that the team at Bioware new what they were doing. This game could very well be game of the year in my book.
