halo, the killzone wannabe

Killzone is the best shooter ever. they say it's the halo killer but killzone is so much better halo doesnt even compare. i only have a ps2 and i wasnt playing games before i bought one a year ago, but believe me you wont find better anywhere else. the graphics are AMAZING, you know amazinger than halo 2 for the xbox, or any hype/good game on the xbox. the gameplay beats the xbox there's explosions, gunfire and guns. the sound who cares really but it beats the xbox. putting the killzone dvd in the ps2 immerse you completly in this war torn parallel universe where the ps2 has the beat the xbox at all costs. anyway if u want a game that will help u spam in the fanboy forums , killzone is the one. if u dont like it you are a MS sheep, halo fanboy.

Killzone, not a Halo Killer. SO!?!?

Killzone isn't meant to compeet with Halo. They aim to deliver totally different experiences from each other. Halo is meant to give you the feeling of a super soldier and Killzone puts you in the shoes of your everyday soldier. Killzone aims more at being a futuristc Medal of Honor or Call of Duty. Killzone delivers a more realistic gaming experience than Halo. Graphically Killzone pushes the PS2 to the edge. The visuals remind me of Ace Combat 5 except grittier. I think the visuals are better than Halo's almost cartoonish bland corridors and canyons; however Halo is also several years old. Killzone also has more weapon variety. Each army has its own versions of certain guns, just like in a real war, and each one behaves differently. are the best example of this. Killzone has a large variety of enviroments (unlike Halo). There is WW1 style trench warfare, then urban warfare, and guerilla warfare in the jungle. The game is clearly inspired by the wars from the past century. Helghans will remind you of Nazi soldiers and the storm-troopers from Star Wars. You can unlock different playable characters as well. The combat changes with each enviroment meaning the action never gets old and the AI is samrter than Halo's. Cover is essential just like in Call of Duty. So you PS2 fan-boys are probably asking, "is it better than Halo or not, and will it be better than Halo 2?" Well it depends on what your looking for Killzone is a way more realistic and Halo is more of a run and gun oriented experience. Halo 2 hasn't come out yet so I can't say, but I wouldn't hope so. The bottom line is if you like WW2 games then you'll love Killzone.

Killing me softly

There's no reason to compare this game to Halo. It's better to compare them to PS2's Red Faction 1 or Half Life. Red Faction killer?.....no. Half Life killer?.....no. I'm a huge fan of FPS and Killzone is just a good shooter. Yes the graphics are amazing for a PS2 but I found the game play lacking. I was just blindly shooting through the game with an odd lack of joy. I can't put my finger on the problem but I'm playing the game just to finish it. Weapon models are cool but the scope does stink big time. It's like looking at the world through rose colored glasses. Once in scope mode there's only limited movement. There's also an issue with scripted levels. On one level if you don't kill all the bad guys you can't advance. I wandered around for an hour before I spooked an enemy from behind a boulder. I killed him and then was able to move to next level. Still with the amazing graphics, sound and detailed environments this game should tide you over until the next big thing.

Maybe not a "Halo Killer" but still amazing

Ok, comparing this game to Halo or Halo 2 is apples and oranges. Both are amazing games in their own rights, so I have a hard time calling this a "Halo Killer". I can say that I think graphically Killzone is better than Halo... Not Halo 2. The levels, character design, weapons, and particle effects all exceed that of Halo in my opinion, but folks let's not forget that Halo was an Xbox release title. I haven't gone online yet, but I still feel confident in giving Killzone a 5.0 simply because it's hands-down the best FPS to hit the PS2. If you like FPS... go buy Killzone now.

Killzone is the best game ever!

Hi, I just went ou and purchased Killzone for the PS2. As an exclusive for the PS2, I think this game is great. Aside from its ownage gameplay, the visuals are AMAZING! The game looks like Halo 2 on crack, YES! I know coming out of a PS2! Online the game is even better, though the melee combat is de-activated for some odd reason... Aside from that, YES THIS GAME IS THE HALO KILLER, and if your looking for that FPS for the PS2, Killzone is in no doubt yuor only objective. For its ownage Visuals, Audio, and Fun Factor, I can't stop playing it! Go out and buy it now, before the HElghast invade!

Killzone

I love the idea of taking a game(supposedly) based on halo for the PS2. But since I haven't had the chance to play it yet, I have to give it a 4.0. You never know.
