Another reson to get a Xbox

Even people who are the most hateful (Zake I hope you reading) of the Xbox can't help but say that this game is a very good reson to go out and get one. Pereiod. If you have an Xbox and you have not whent out and brought this game (or Halo) yet,GO GET IT!!!. If you are familuar with Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic and the Zelda series it is just as GamePro said, Fable is a mix of the two. However it is much shorter, which is it's only flaw. And with that being it's only flaw, It is still, all will always be, the best rpg (if not game) ever and that is why I give Fable a score of 5.0. For every choice, a consequence...

Greatest RPG ever, HELL YEAH

This game was claimed as the greatest game of all time and for the first time yes. I now know that to be true. When I plopped this game in I thought, RPG ok I hate Final Fantasy so this game oughtta, but no. The sheer blending of Action and RPG makes me swarm to my Xbox. I also love the size of the game, can u ever find a game of this size besides maybe GTA (It is close), no. Being good or evil is like real life, good people have to work hard while bad people have a less stressful life. My only real complaint is the targeting which can be a little off, I accidently hit a guard and I payed the price, so besides that I love Fable and find it to be flawless. Play it now.

No Fable, but a beautiful lie.

After years, and years, and...(yawn) years of cancelations, setbacks, and waiting for the next "pushed back" anouncement, and still more waiting, we finally get the "greatest RPG ever made", but wait...I've actually played a better RPG before...and (gasp) it was on the NES!!! Fable does a lot of theings right in terms of characters and the games multiple settings, but then it just turns into a modern day Zelda with the hero, yes, that's his name, running around with his sword, his bow, and the ability to shoot lightning out of his oversized gloved hands. After about 12 to 14 hours, THE GAME IS OVER!!! Sure you can continue to lead merchants to Orchard Farm, but other than that, who wants to walk around in a world as a hero when no one needs heroing. This game would have been a lot better if the main quest had been longer, and the side quest more enguaging. And why did the Heroes Guild get blown to bits? This game isn't awful, but then again, it isn't all that good either. Fun for a few hours, but then...Where's my GBA, I want to play "Golden Sun".

best console rpg ever

Though i gave this game a 4.5, it really deserves higher. It's not quite perfect, but the fact that you are in a beautifully detailed world with advanced scenarios and fully customizable characters redeems it 1000 times over and makes it well worth your hard earned money

Expected better but still it is great

Expected way more from this game but still good. Nice graphics but horrible fighting play. I would still buy this game in a heartbeat for the other stuff you can do.

Overhyped, but still good

Before I start let me clear up a few things. First, despite what youve heard, Fable is not very open ended. You will play on maps, which btw are all connected seperatly by somewhat long load times, which are very linear and as a result usually a little small. The story is VERY linear, meaning what you do doesnt really affect the story, except at critical plot points. This leads me to the thing: despite what the ads and the game box say, your choices DO NOT have a consequence. The only consequence is that your good and evil alignment changes. Case in point: Walk into a village, slaughter everything in sight, leave and come back in 3 days, and not only will it have magically repopulated but everyone will have forgotten what happened. Another great example is in escort missions; if the NPC you are protecting dies, then you must restart the level (so much for living with the consequences). However this is not to say that the game sucks. The graphics in this game are some of the best on a console so far, though a tad bit bright. Also, the character customization is the game's real draw; I gurrantee you that you will not find anyone else with a character that looks the same as yours. Also, the voice acting is superb, as are the rest of the game's sounds (and the soundtrack is perfect). Battles are also very intense...as long as you dont rely on ranged attacks. Why? because the targeting system in this game SUCKS. It doesnt differentate between ally and enemy, which means youll be hitting the guy youre supposed to escort a bit more than you want to. The game is also incredably short, especially for an RPG (its ONLY 10 hours, 15 if you try to get all of the secrets!), which is sad because this game is great to play through and you'll wish it was much, much longer. If you want a high action, pretty RPG, then get Fable; if you want an open ended RPG in which your choices DO matter and lasts longer than 10 hours, then get Morrowind.

One of the best games of 2004

Great game! Good story and game control. Will keep you busy for many hours! Recommend it to all hard core RPG players. It is also fun for the novice, but you will need the strategy guide.

Fable review by NapalmDeth

I myself had reserved Fable at least 3 months before it came out and now I ask myself, was it worth the wait?Yes, first of all the graphics were amazing for instance when I look at my sword from the farthest view piont i can gawk at the oh so sweet shine that comes from the sword. The game also has many neat puzzles and things like that such as the demon doors and the searching for the silver keys.It is also amazing to notice how your charecter changes throughout the game. With the multiple endings and the different possibilities I think you'd have to atleast beat this game twice till you put it down. This was one of the best games I had ever played.

A Must Have Game!

I have never been much of a RPG gamer. In fact, if i find out a game's type is RPG, then I will not concern myself with it. That was until I first saw one of the trailers for the game and the ideas it showed of being good and evil just wowed me to another dimension. It was then that I actually decided to give a RPG game chance, and let me tell you, Fable is a risk that was worth it. You start out as a small farmboy who has his family taken away from him by bandits. After a quick mission for your sister, you quickly begin your training. Although the guild training does get boring, the moment you are out of there, the fun is just non stop. Your immediatley thrown into a graphically great world where at the very start, you have the ability to do pretty much whatever you want. Though you might want some better weapons and armor before heading off the trail of you main quest. Fable is a game which is highly addictive because you can go on for hours on end and still have tasks to accomplish in the world of Albion. Even if you decide to go straight through the main quest and beat the game, it still allows you to keep going and finish off all the side quests and find everysingle piece of treasure or unlock every door you did not have access to before. Even if your just messing around with the townsfolk, wooing them or slaughtering them, Fable is still at its peak. The only problem this game really shows, is remembering exactly which buttons do what. There is a lot of attacks, spells, items, and potions to choose from, but after awhile, it all becomes second nature. From a non RPG fan to any who are or are not, Fable is a must have game for its almost neverending activities, and its replayability.

Great but like all games flawed

the game is great the graphics for a game like fable is amazing it's like morrowind (though morrowind give more freedom, but not as into he story line as fable.). there is alot of neat thing like drinkin and watchin the screen slowly turn blury, get town people drunk, killing entiery villages, buy houses and putin it for rent. also there is little details that make the game even better like people actually sleepin at night or seein townfolks scrubin floors, stores actually closing and watch the owner open up again, people sittin down to eat, u can get scares, u get older, u can gain wait, u can get married, u can do alot but the only thing is that the game play is kinda choppy sometimes and fight with citizens in the way does get anoying but all in all it's a good game buy don't rent.
