This game is great. I owned it and you can take my word. I really enjoyed this game and Never stopped playing it. Its also one of the few really good action RPGs on the ps2, which there is a short list of anyway. We all know the ps2 was plagued with Japanese RPG crap, even the Jap action RPGS. This game and its sequel more then make up for this fact. The game uses the snowblind engine just like Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance. It looks fantastic. It probably still looks good. I remember when I first bouht this game, there were many RPGs sort of like this coming out on the PC and I didnt have a good enough PC so I bought this game. I would say its as close as you will get to a really good PC like RPG. The controls are well done and feel smooth. They function really well. The story is a little lacking but over all its pretty good and interesting to watch unfold. This game also has weapons and Items customization. You can create trully unique and powerful armor and weapons. This is my favorite aspect of the game. There many different characters each with thier own unique classes to play as. You have warriors, Magic users and even a combination of the two. The characters each have thier own skills you can customize and make the character feel even more unique to your playing If you havennt played this game then you cant go wrong if your looking for a good action RPG. This game has every think you could want in a good Action RPG. I highly recommend this game to anyone. I havent played the sequel though but from what I have read it seems to be of the same high caliber quality.

This game is really, really fun while it lasts. The story is fairly weak, but that's a minor inconvenience when you're playing a hack'n'slash game. Plenty of weapons, but most are weaker than whatever you're carrying. The Spells/Abilities that you can use are absolutely amazing. "Summon Skeleton", only available for the Dark Shadowknight, is the sweetest thing ever. Summon a skeleton to fight with you!! Awesome! Which pretty much sums up the entire game, awesome. Unfortunately, it gets really, really boring when all you do is press X. R2, and L2 sometimes, but it's just easy. If you like any kind of hack'n'slash game, this is for you. If you have tons of friends that come over and play your games, this is one of the best multiplayer games that I've ever played. Overall, great, but not perfect.
A must have for RPG lovers

This game rocks!!! This is my first time playing an "Everquest" game, but I am very impressed. Controls are great, graphic's are crisp and clear, and the music is top notch. A very deep game, in which you will spend countless hours/days/weeks trying to level up and explore the many lands. This game ranks up there in my personal top ten of all time "great games". A truly GREAT RPG game.

the game is almost exactly like dark allince balders gate. expect that there is a story line and the game is more involved and more fun. there is alsomore deatail with the weapons i'd say the game is good though and the idea of multi player and have someallys anyway it's way cooler. if u liked balders gate defiantly get it. if you thought the game was pretty good buy this game it's really fun but if u didn't like the game rent before u buy.
better than Baldur's Gate 1 and 2

Show any action RPG gamer an Everquest title, and they will most likely scoff at you. And who can blame them? Everquest does have a reputation of being only for the die hard gamer who is willing to spend countless hours levelling up. But once you pop this baby in the console, you realise that this one is all about the action. The plot of the game isn't exactly shakespere, but it does give you a good excuse to move from one locale to the other. Which are just gorgeus by the way. Every cave, forest, or desert is painted in vivid detail. And the simple act of walking through water is awe inspiring. You'll choose from 5 different classes, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, who also look great. It seems the developers went into great detail with, well, every little detail in the game. Although the game is basically a typical hack n' slash, that's not say it isn't without some depth. Just running into battle and hacking everything to pieces won't work everytime. You will be rewarded alot if you make good use of blocking and ranged attacks. Catching enemies off guard is a good idea too, since they generally rely on numbers. The game borrows it's levelling up design from Diablo it seems. You will gain a few points to allign to some stats, and there will be a few points to spend on a skill tree. The tree does seem to lack the depth of Diablo's but it works well. The audio is cinematic and fits the game perfectly. Every character's voice actor did a first rate job bringing out the characters they play, and the music punctuates the mood. But it seems the biggest obstical to this champion is the bugs. A gamer will often find himself running into an abiss of nothing and crashes happen on occasion. Then you will be done reading the dialogue before it is spoken. A lack of side quests also makes the game feel a bit linear. But with these shortcomings in the QA department, this game is still enjoyable all around. And will make any sword happy champion miss a meal or two.
