The Next Best Game for PS2

Pros Cons
Amazing visuals
Epic boss fights
Intense action
Addictive gameplay

As a Castlevania fan, i have been fascinated by the story and the game play. It simply take me to time travel and remember the first time i have played this game for NES. Since then, Castlevania have evolve and apparently the best franchise in the business that I always look for.

Castlevania: Lament of Innocence is a very addictive game. Especially the heart pounding battles with the bosses, when you fail to beat the Bosses, it makes you more eager to start again and at the same time think of techniques how to finish the boss.

What really make this game special? its the huge bosses which almost take the entire space of your TV screen. Even i have already finished the game. I don't get tired to get it on my library of games and play it over and over again. Sometimes, i even recommend it to my friends to try it out.

However, in one occasion, When Gamepro released a list of best 36 games in PS2, i was somehow dissappointed, when this game didn't make it to the list.

A Surprisingly Successful Copy of DMC

Castlevania, you've played it on SNES, and NES, now you can play it on the Playstation 2. I myself have not yet beaten it, I have killed the Golem, Medusa, and the Undead Parasite, but the action and puzzle solving is well balanced. Although the action only gets intense w/ either a boss, or a lot of enemies surrounding you. The graphics are surprisingly good also. They're not the best in the world-- it's like Bungie w/ Halo 2....more focus on storyline and gameplay than graphical wonder. The storyline is basic and easy to follow, Leon Belmont's betrothed gets captured, he goes and saves her...easy... The boss battles and overall enemies in the game are.....simple, and yet sometimes creative. The boss battles can be short and aren't very challenging so long as you have alot of potions. This is a really cheap version of the first Devil May Cry. The action and attacks are similar, and so is the boss dialouge. I liked this game from the point I read the review for it. It drew me in like the allure of a Vampires Castle. I'm not gonna get into great detail but....overall, Castelvania: Lament of Innocence is a good game for those who want good action w/out a big price...or too much action. So I give this game a 5 out of 5 because....it awed me at how surprisingly fun the game was. SO GET IT OR RENT IT!!

WORTH THE WAIT

I waited for a long time to get a Castlevainia game for the PS2 and I must say this was worth the wait. The 3D environment was great and the graphics awesome. The story is based as a prequel to the original NES game and plays right into that plot on how the Belmonts came to be Vampire Hunters. I like the enemy AI and the different Bosses to fight. Exploring the Castle wasnt boring and new enemies keep you involved no matter what room your in. Definately worth your time.

The only other review you need to read... Castlevania: Lament

I have never played any Castlevania game in my entire life so this is my first castlevania experience. Kinda scary to play at night. This game really is a masterpiece, it has beautiful graphics and gameplay. You can probably beat this game within a day if you spend the better part of the day playing straight thru it. Games works like a maze and you pick which doors you run thru, its not a game that "pushes" you thru the levels like from what i hear older castlevania games do. This game did not get a perfect 5.0 from me cause it wasnt long enough of a game, but the short story line was truly a beautiful one.

A game that should have been on the Gamecube (great though)

Let me start of by making a point: Everyother Castlevania game these past 2-3 years has come out on the GBA, yet the first time Konami actually makes a great 3D Castlevania game, and it's on the PS2. This makes no sense. This game is great. The gameplay is alot like Devil May Cry, which is not a bad thing. The best parts are the boss battles. The one problem I found was that it was easy to get lost. Alot of the rooms look alike. So much so that one of the moves you unlock in the game is a map marker, to make "landmarks" to follow. That should throw up a flag that your going to get lost alot. Other than that, this game is great. I would like to end my review with a statement: Please Konami, port this game back where it belongs, on the gamecube. It's not too late.

Best Castlevania since SOTN

I bought this game the day i bought my playstation 2 online combo pack. This was one of 5 games i got. And i am loving it like none other. I find myself playing it alot. The musical score is superb and the grahics are awesome as well. The sound rumbles my walls in my apartment so bad i have had the neighbors pounding on the wallas telling me to turn it down. I of course tell them to shove it ;) my advice BUY THIS GAME.

Simply a masterpiece--all the way

The great Castlevania series, for all who don't know, has been around for many, many years, since the good ol' NES (which I myself am quite fond of) and has been great for the whole time, despite the dent they created in their reputation with Legacy of Darkness and those other first-3D- endeavors. An awesome game to add to your growing collection. It is a 5.0 in all categories to me-- the real time menu did not bother me as it did the good people at GamePro; I used 7 potions and a high-potion fighting Medusa and got hit ONCE. The combat system is complicated and simple at the same time. The complicated part: relics, orbs, subweapons, and the combinations of these items. The simplicity: using all these things, even in unison, after maybe a couple of days of play. The music and sound FX surely isn't lacking, either. The background music is awesome, and the sound makes me want a surround sound system as the graphics make me want a plasma hi-res TV. And for those who question the rating-- "Oh dear. This is rated Mature. What to do, what to do..." Well, if you're not super squeamish (eew, that zombie just bled on me) or scared REALLLLLY easily (AAAAAAUGH! It's a giant skeleton flower! Aaa! It just spewed poison on meeeee...!), then you can dismiss the rating with a wave of your hand. Fun Factor: 5.0 . And that is for a goood reason. --Smalex

Castlevania:Lament of Innocence

Castlevania is a great series telling the story of the clan of the Belmonts that go through the castle to put a end to Dracula. The music is really good and so is the graphics which proceeds past the past titles, but I do wish that Alucard was back.

Excellent, but it is to short!

The game itself rocks, you want it or not. The graphics are pretty good and the frame rate does not drop anytime, the musci (electronica- gothic) is really good and original. The controls are simple and evolve as you progress throught the game. Even if Leon looks like a jakass, the easy bosses (and the lack of them!) and being a 5 hour game, the most awesome thing is, THAT IT IS AS COOL AS HELL!

Not Bad, But Not As Good

This game isnt bad at all but there isnt enough magic, not enough items, not nearly enough weapons, adn it isnt long enough. Castlevania symphony of the night for playstation is a lot better than this one. Plus that story line is better and much longer if you play it right. I rate this game a 4 only for the grphics. Konami, not bad but couldve done a lot better!
