This is an amazing playstation 2 title. it has great puzzles and just enough action, but it was unfortunately slightly repetitive and the difficulty was uneven. when i went thru the game the first time i breezed thru some fights and the secound time thru some of those "easy" fights were increasingly hard. The puzzles on the other hand, were difficult, but in a fun way. and another fun thing about the game was the traps it contained, and how they helped make the puzzles that much more fun.
I Really dont have a lot to say about this game, except that it is exceptional for a person looking for a fun puzzle game on the PS2
Pro's: Addicting, incredebly fun, amazing puzzles and story
Cons: Can be slightly repetitive, uneven difficulty

An excellent game, the Prince of Persia The Sands of Time brings puzzles, combat, and time-rewinding action to consoles with a very atmospheric and ancient feel to it. This game is genre-defining, with nice detailed environments and characters, and a soundtrack that matches the era that it is in. The game feels very free, as the combat system is very loose, yet satisfying. The puzzles in the game are very smart and fun, and the story is very captivating, and well done. The one feature of the game that truly sets it apart from any other, and brings its uniqueness is the ability to reverse time, and replay sequences in the game. This feature is very helpful, and by the end of the game, you will depend on it so much, that you'll wonder how you could play other games without it. The feature works great both in combat, and exploring; for instance, the frustration is eliminated when you miss a jump, and unexpected traps can be avoided the second time around. The game's uniqueness is what makes it stand out to most other games. Bring up the issue of controlling time to anyone, and they usually make a reference to this game. The environments are vivid, the atmosphere is mysterious, and artistic. The soundtrack fits perfectly with the game overall, and even the song for the end credits is great. The folks at Ubisoft have just given themselves a new company defining game-one that should be experienced by all.

Awesome game. Some of the best gameplay ever. A little repetitive, but I never found myself getting tired of it.
Great Experience

Prince of Persia Sands of time was amazing and had lots of new things i have never seen before.Running on walls turning time back was very fun.It wasn't just a hack and slash game it had puzzles and killing but it not just one button killing you can flip over the enemy and slash him in half for one example. The graphics were very good for the time some of the best i've seen of a PS2.Only one problem with this game i wish there were more boss battles but that problem doens't bother this great experience at all.If you are looking for something to pass the time pick this game up cheap.Very fun.

im sorry to say this but ive played the game and sadly.....it stunk. i fully back ubisoft and many of the games they've made but this one should be put to rest. it has slow story and gameplay, glitches, and wierd zombie teleporters? the characters are pretty good but seriously why would u want to run on walls when you can somersault over them? lastly camera views werent always the greatest during boss battles. thumbs down......

Very rarely do I consider any game to be one of the greatest. But I am confident when I say that Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is one of the greatest adventure game released in the last generation. Sand of Time did for the adventure genre what Tomb Raider did for the genre on the Playstation. Everything about the game is so solid and so refined, that it's in a class of it's own. Prince of Persia took the large scale environmental puzzles found in games like Soul Reaver, and added brand new elements to them. One big element was time manipulation. The price could slow down time and affect the world around him in ways that would help solve puzzles. It was so inventive that it made solving each of the puzzles fun and exciting. Not to mention it made combat that much more fun. Most people stress that the combat was slow compared to games like Devil May Cry, but that is what made it the more interesting. It wasn't about flailing your sword around like a madman. I t was about timing every move you made, or face the game over screen. Thankfully, the rewind feature made combat less painful. The one element that struck me the most was the writing. Everything the Prince said was so serious and so funny at the same time. He was a genuinely likable character. Combine that with a beautiful love story written in, and I challenge anyone not to feel for the Prince by the end of the game. It disappoints me that the next chapters in the series are so dark and gratuitous, because Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was so light-hearted that it was a game everyone could enjoy. To me, that is the true hallmark of greatness.
A great, refreshing game.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is one of the best games of 2003. It really is original and very fine-tuned. My only problem is that the game is pretty repetitive. You are pretty much fighting the same creatures and doing the same puzzles again and again. But still, this is a great game and truly unique.

Why? Because I said so. Some of the best level design I've ever seen. Jaws drop in some of the rooms.
A great homage to a classic

Forgiveness is divine. (So let's not talk about Prince of Persia 3D) But this time, there was no need to forgive. On the contrary, it should be everyone who had doubts about this game that should be forgiven. This game takes a classic and creates another. The game stars the Prince once again caught up in something he would rather not be. Of course the thing he is caught up in is his own doing. Your mama always said, "If you release the Sands of Time on an entire city which turns everyone into vicous monsters because you were gullible enough to believe what some evil vizier tells you then you deserve what you get!" So to speak. The game feels alot like countless adventure games at first. But as time goes by, this game feels like other adventure games were clones of this game. The fluid gameplay makes pulling off complicated looking acrobatic stunts to bypass traps and enemies a satisfying breeze. All of the Prince's moves can be pulled off with simple button taps the show off the game's responsiveness to any and all situations. Saying this game looks pretty would be a flat out understatement. The environments in the game are downright gorgeous. Every corner and nitch was milked for every last bit of feeling the developers could get out of it. The enemies are properly menacing and every character acts smoothly in the stunts they pull off. But the stand alone thing that made this game a hit in it's classic form were the puzzles. And this game is stuffed with them. That and they seemed to have been tested throughly, since every puzzle feels like it belongs there and is almost never frustrating. The audio accurately punctuates every situation and listening to the Prince complain is a treat. Although the game's formula of fight bad guys, puzzle, fight bad guys, another puzzle can get repetitive, the creative level design shields your eyes from that minor detail. This game just feels...good. Any adventure fan would be crazy not to take a serious look at this one.
Very worthy of the small time it asks from you

Long M.I.A. the Prince of Persia has been, after an unsuccessful attempt at moving the Prince into 3D. The rights to PoP fell into the very capable hands of Ubisoft from their purchase of Mattel. PoP is everything you could have wanted from it being converted to 3D and then some. You still have to deal with jumping puzzles where you have to time the jumping just right and be able to react fast enough to things happening. You will mess up but thankfully this never becomes a nuisance because of the Sands of Time. Early on you get a dagger to suck up your defeated enemies sand and this sand helps for you to reverse time. So you can usually reverse time if you happen to fall to your death. Yet it's not always there to depend on because you can run out of sand which needs to be replenished by fighting more enemies. The combat is also nicely done because by using the analog stick and pressing the hit button you can hit in almost any direction; enemies will always swarm around you so it works nicely. Sometimes though you may find yourself using the guard button a bit too much since there may be too many enemies fighting you; which results in fights that drag out for a needlessly long amount of time. The presentation of the game really is one of the best aspects of the experience, such as when you stab a fallen enemy with the Sands of Time dagger the camera will zoom in. There is also a fog effect used that closely resembles the kind seen in Ico but it helps to give an immesive feel to the game; there are no load times either while playing which adds to this feel. The story is presented often through in-game scenes but there are some CG sequences and seeing those sometimes can take you totally out of the game world. The game is also very short, it can be beaten in the time limit of 10-15 hours and though you can probably beat it in a rental the game is just so good that you will want to play it over. PoP:SoT is easily one of the best adventure games of 2003.
