Halo-- A mediocre FPS for an above mediocre market.

Halo... ahhh... what do say about Halo. Well to start off, it's a good game. It really is addictive in single-player mode, and even more addictive in multi-player mode. But where does it lack so that it is a good game, and not great. It lacks in it's strong point... multi-player. Because the multi-player mode is more Sort-of-multi-player mode. Why sort-of? Well, for starters, there are no quick commands. I wanna be able to say "Hold Position!" so my team knows what to do. I also wanna know who is talking to me when they use team chat, as well as where they are. I mean, I here people say "Who TKed me!" and I wonder which person they actually are, or if it was me that killed them! Another lacking part of multiplayer is the fact that people can't vote. If you want a different map, you can't vote for it. Want to kick a TKer, you can't. You can cry about it, but that really won't help... One of the strong points is the weapon system. Only having two guns at a time brings some stratgey. It forces you to conserve ammo and choose your weapon combos wisely. Also vehicles are the best thing to happen to FPS's since Doom. These are much welcomed and much appreciated innovations that make you think "Why didn't they add these a while ago?". The Single-player mode of Halo is without a doubt, a shiner. Of course, like all FPS single-player modes, there is no real thing to do but shoot. But having vehicles and support npcs that can actually hold thier own against an equal force, really pushes it over the top. You really feel like you are in a multi-player and just get absolutely absorbed. All in all, it was a good game. Single Player is great. Multi-Player need some extra features. And the vehicles? Well, all I can say about them is more is better. I would love to have more kinds of vehicles, but the current amount can keep you entertained for hours and hours on end. And trust me, I mean hours and hours...

Halo for PC sucks!

Halo for the xbox was an awesome game. But now on the Pc it sucks a**! There is so much slowdown that I dont even know what the hell is going on. I dont even bother shooting because ill just miss because the controls are so messed up! If there was no online play for this game I wouldnt even touch it. This is the only reason I give a 3.

Xbox converted

If you complain about the graphics in this game, then get lost. Graphics are fantastic for what it was rendered for....Xbox...porting it to PC is somewhat of a task. I wouldn't expect the animators to redo all the bitmaps, shadowing, and ray tracing just for pc gamers. Give them credit, the game is a few years old!!! I enjoy the plot, the sound, and the graphics. Controls are tricky w/ my wingman, but keyboard and mouse do fine.

Fun and adictive but.....

Halo on Xbox was so awsome. Now it has port to the pc. With new online play and level upgrades this one game you don't want to miss. Halo runs smoothly and the controls are almost perfect. The only drawback is the driving the warthog and bansee. Using the mouse and the WSAD keys could be confusing. The sound is excellent. The sound efex are cool. The biggest drawback to this game ,however, is the grahpics. I don't know about you but I was dissapoint about the graphics. I might have just been my computer but the warthog looked all blocky and the lanscapes, characters and weapons weren't as detailed. For the fun factor, Halo was very adictive, especially for the onling play, without that this fun factor would be 3.5. If you are a FPS fan and you like online games pick up Halo now ( or download the demo for free at www.microsoft.com or www. gamepro.com) If the controls and grahpics were a bit better this would be a 5.0. Graphics:3.0 Control:4.5 Sound:4.5 Fun Factor:4.5

Halo Rocks! Best FPS Ever! No slow down on my pc at all!

This game was great on the xbox. Nothing like getting your friends together to play some massive killing. But face it sometimes its hard to get mor then 4 buddys at one time. When halo pc came out I knew I had to run out and get it. I read this review and didnt know what to think, when gamepro said it had framerate problems and slow down. I dont have a high end pc, and it runs smoooooooth. Awesome game nothing like getting a 16 peep killing spree. Great game, cant wait till HALO 2. Till then halo pc is the only way to play multiplayer FPS

Halo

Halo is one of my favorite games, aside the great story, complex charcters is a game worth the $50, hard to say with some recent games. The outside parts are beautiful with green trees and flowing water falls (it should be noted you need a high end PC to run at highest level). The mulitplayer is also rocks with great game modes. Also there cool online only weapons and when you see a ghost, warthog, tank, or even a banish, you WILL be scared. Great game....... GO GET IT FYI: my old name is jmasvidal

Worthy of $50

This game would definitly be worth the money. I mean it's Halo for cryin out loud! The multiplayer could be very promising as well. I wish they wouldn't have ditched the co-op, but the online makes up for it. On the XBOX not many people would have actually been able to play it on the lan 16 player but online will be fun alright. The graphics look okay now but are good when you think of this game is 2 years old. Also the new mouse interface is great too, it may take awile for xbox vets but it's still gold. Overall, I think any Halo fan and even newbies should get this game if you've got powerful pc. P.S. try to find a way to make money so you can get the parts needed for a good pc if you don't have one.(80 gig harddrive,GeForce FX 5200,etc.......)
