I'm not much of an RPG guy, but I just fell in love with this game. It was confusing at first, but as I played more I started to understand everything and got really into it. much better than Final Fantasy in my opinion. I never really liked most of Square Enix's games because they always seem to make their male characters look like metro-sexuals. I always thought that was weird. Anyways, i thought this had a great storyline and voice acting. The battle system is OK i guess. The graphics looked beautiful but I thought it was weird why they made every character look small as if they were 10 years old. If you would compare a character from the game the way they looked like in it's cartoon version with it's little avatar in the game, you'd see a major difference. Boss fights are epic but with lesser enemies it get a bit repetitive. But all is forgiven with it's interesting characters and compelling storyline.

Not that great.......

I played this game and beat it. the thing i like is that it is a HUGE game on 2 discs but it barely kept up my interest. I didn't like the combat system, the story, or the metro-sexual characters. All my friends were going crazy at this game and im kinda lyke "meh".

Best RPG on the Cube!

Your thinking to yourself, "Well, it's like the ONLY RPG on the Gamecube!" But please, don't overlook the fact that this game is a solid, fun RPG that is a bit cliched in terms of the gameplay, storyline and such, but that's DEFINITLEY not a bad thing. The game will last you at least 50 hours and has replayability. The game starts you off as Lloyd in the world of Sylvarant as you uncover the mysteries of the world as it is losing mana. You must help Colette in her journey as the "Chosen One" to help regenerate the world. This game is a must-buy for all you RPGer's hardcore or not!

Finally a great RPG for the Gamecube!!

No doubt one of the best RPG's on the Gamecube, Tales of Symphonia is well deserving to be on the top ten list of must have Gamecube games. The gameplay is addictive and fun, having you play for hours on end. The graphics are cell-shaded but amazingly done to perfection and the voice acting is awesomely done by Scott Menville (Robin from Teen Titans) and Tara Strong (Raven from Teen Titans). Mind you this game is long, about 70 hours worth is devoted to this game in order to beat it. If you don't have this yet, then I suggest you go to the local gamestore and demand this game!!

The Symphonia has arrived!

Tale of Symphinia is the must have RPG game for all Gamecube owners. It features great storyline, great gameplay, and whatever the tree's name is. Storyline- 5.0 An unforgettable storyline of a boy along with a crew to save the world. It may seem like your average save the world story, but for what the crew of Lloyd, Collet, and Genis go through is a tale of friendship, betrayal, and some unexpected twist that depends on how Lloyd (you) treat your friends through out the adventrue to save two planets from destroying each other and must find a way to co-exist. Gameplay - 4.0 An action real time RPG, where it's free for all battling, no turn base, it's just go and hack 'n slash fun. It offers over 50+ hours of gameplay, 60+ including all the side quest, of fun. Graphics - 4.0 It's cell shade fun! It works, and it works wonderfully with this game. Overall - 4.5 The best RPG for the Gamecube without a doubt. A great story, great cast of characters, and a great title for the Gamecube.

tales of symphonia

Tales of symphonia is a game that combines hack and slash with some strategy and many and I mean many plot twists.with 2 discs that are already long. This is an enjoyable game. The art is extremely unique and good. Its like fighting in a japanese anime show! Bottom line: play it

Tale of Fun

Graphics - Although cell-shading isn't necessarily the most popular in graphics right now(I'm looking at you, Wind Waker), it fits this game well. The battle animations are gorgeous and just seem to fit the style of the game. Sound - The music in the game is pleasing to the ears. The characters sound good and their voices seem to fit their style. Great work here. Depth - ToS is full of items, side quests and fun little things to do. Even though you have to steer away a small amount from the main quest in order to do these, it's definitely worth it as it completes more of the story and allows for a more in-depth gameplay experience. Story - Though confusing at first and even sometimes later in the game, Tales' story is one of a kind that is different from any other I've ever played through before. Though it's not the best story ever possibly created, it's definitely one of the best. Overall - Tales compiles some of the best in plot and presentation and throws off rivaling RPGs. If I hadn't bought my Gamecube when I did and I played ToS on a friends, I'd definitely have rented it for a week to play ToS. It's just plain worth it.

The Best Gamecube RPG Ever!

For any RPG fans who own a Gamecube, this game is a must! With an epic storyline, tons of weapons and armors, and so many spells and skills, this could easily be one of the greatest RPGs ever. The story is incredible. It has so many twists and turns it will send your mind reeling. At first, it seems your normal RPG plot. The Chosen One off to save the world, with the swordsman, healer, mage, etc. But with new characters and new plot twists, its totally out of the ordinary. You'll feel like you're actually living the game, as you witness the character's tragedies, joys, and realisticly witty attitudes. The graphics are also great. Each cell-shaded anime character is a masterful piece of art. The only exception to the great graphics is the overworld. It is very simple and bland, but this will not deter most gamers. The sound is also very good. The epic music will get stuck in your head for months. The voices are incredible. The fighting system may not appeal to all. Those RPG gamers who like the slow, turn based fighting of Final Fantasy will be shocked. The battle system is real time where you control your person as if in a fighting game. Once you get used to it, it becomes extremely fun to mix and match hundreds of skills and spells in battle. and when you get your friends over to play multiplayer, its a blast! So if you're an RPG fan, just buy it already!

Tales of Symphonia -- surely you've said you've luff'd it?

There were a few (although minor, you'd barely notice it, unless you look closer) glitches (if you did a *little* testing, you'd notice) and graphic flaws, but overall, it has served us perfectly. Tales of Symphonia is absolutely magical. "Five stars -- eternally!" - someone I don't know, which of course they'd say. I agree with them, but I only put the rating as 4.5 (I could've rated it as 4.8, but hey, it wasn't in the box!) because there were only a teeny weeny flaws, but nonetheless (as I've said in the beginning), it's insane and truly a masterpiece.
