Billy Hatcher is a platform game made by sonic team for the gamecube, gameplay involves pushing an egg around using it to "run over" your enemies, you can increase the size of the egg by running over fruit. each level has many different objectives (kinda like mario 64) to complete, allowing you to replay levels for extras (some nice features include extra downloadable games for the gba if you have the needed leads) mission objectives range from basic completion of levels, to races, to collectathons. One issue i did have with the game is it's iffy camera which can cause some trouble from time to time, the player doesn't really have much controll over it. Another thing about this game is that it has a fun multiplayer which is always good for a laugh with friends, though it does lack depth. This game has it's flaws but overall is a good experience and well worth a check if you find it cheap.

This game is fun. Its funfactor is high but the challenge is not. If you're looking for a fun kid's game this might be the one for you. But if your looking for a game for and teens+, or one with a little challenge this would definetly not be the game for you.

Ok, just imagine this your playing in the forest but suddenly strange things happen. Now it's up too you to save the chickens, yes it's wierd but the story unfolds into a unique and fun game. The game plays like a sonic game, kind of like Sonic DX.It's got smooth graphics and good sound but this game is all unique there are some similarites you may notice. If you have played Super Mario Sunshine you will notice how you need Orbs by solving puzzles beating bosses etc.It copied Sonic 3D in one way,the part with that trampoline like ring which blasts you up.Other than that though the games quite unique. You spend quite a bit of time rolling around eggs. There are different kinds of eggs for examle water eggs fire eggs etc.Thes eggs hatch birds wich each have there own power suiting the specific egg.The game controls quite well and can be enjoued by everyone just like the rating suggests.I would have too say this is a must have for Gamecube owners who like platformers.
Better than I expected

It was realley fun until I got to the carneval. There they realley get you. You get to a place and this penguin kills the chicken elder ever time or it falls throuh the rails. I tried for days to beat it and never did. Besides that the game was very good. It was a combination of super monkeyball , super mario 64 and chickens. The multiplayer was very fun hatching eggs and using the monster to wipe out oponents. I highly recomend this game to a friend.

My reference is mostly towards the multi-player games that can give you endless (well, obviously not endless, but still a lot) hours of entertainment. It is also neat to control the characters from the Sonic videogames with your character (you have to hatch a certain type of egg, and the character you get is random). I'm surprised that the average fun level (of 01/05/04) is 2.5, maybe this review will raise that average I don't know. Anyway, anyone that wants a nice, albiet, childish videogame should either buy or rent Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg.
diffrent, yet the same

I came through Best Buy in search of a new game to satisfy my needs, and woah and behold: Billy Hatcher. You can already tell it's from Sonic Team, with the trademark grin, stance, & gloves, but that's besides the point. Oh, he even plays like sonic too: fast gameplay. It even has a colorful world to boot.. All the gameplay is revolved around rolling eggs through barriers, solving puzzles, and attacking things with them as well. Once you get the egg hatched, a pokemon- esque character comes poppin' out, and you use them to solve puzzles and other quite entertaining activities. But the egg rolling is also a problem sometimes as well, as they get stuck in things, rolling off somewhere, or when you have to roll it across this narrow bridge, well, things get a little tedius and a bit frustrating, to say the least. But even through that, I still managed to really like the game. Sure, there may be some pop-up here and there, but that's ok, because you don't really notice it with all that is going on. I wish it were longer, but I still like going through old levels and looking around. I recommend a rental. And if you like that, then buy it. It trys to be diffrent, but when you think about it, it doesnt do anything new, either.
...very,um..unique...

Billy Hatcher and the Giant egg is certaintly diffrent from most platformers in someways. The gameplay, which involves a kid dressed in a chicken suit rolling around, and hatching eggs could be precieved has a stroke of genius by some,or just sick by others,it all depends what kind of gamer you are. Personally I thought the games graphics were colorful, but out-of-date and the controls took some getting used to,however Billy Hatcher is actually pretty entertaining, most of the time, but falls sort in others. Honestly,Im not sure I would purchase this game or fully recommend it,but rent it atleast, its something diffrent from most cut and paste platformers
