Lucky Number 13

Holy crap. this game was awsome. its a shame that it did bad but hey i a good game for 10 dollars. it is by far the best fps that i have ever played. the cell shaded graphics had me turned on the second i saw them. this was also one on the first to feature the hostage mode and dule wielding mode. it has some rpg elements and you are always kept on the edge of the seat. the story mode is great but i have to admit they did drop the ball on the ending. it seemed like they were goin to make a sequal and never did. but i totally recomend this one. go check it out.

Just shoot me

The only problem I have with this game is the lack of check points. You can be two steps from the end of the level and make one mistake and you have to start all over again. Because of no check points the stealth areas can be difficult. I like that they tried something different from other FPS with unique graphics and game play. I gave it a slightly higher score for it's originality. At it's current price there's no reason not to pick this up.

This game is just like a comic book. You have a bunch of little screens popping up at you always. This game is very hard.Thats all I have to say.

SAME FPS... DIFFERENT CHARACTERS

This was kinda like playing BOND only you weren't BOND. Your a secret agent who lost his memory and now must fight to save himself for the organization that he was originally part of. Cartoon type graphics gave it a different spin but didnt help. To me the game was fun for a while but got boring, was the same thing almost on every level. If you really like FPS and liked the James Bond games then give it a try.

Best FPS For PS2

Firstly, i have been subscribed to Gamepro since you guys put out the excellent issue one hundred with the game Reload and a cake on the cover. Next, I think that XIII is the best FPS ever! It has the best story I have ever seen or heard, videogame or other. If Ubisoft doesn't put out a sequel I might have to go on a hunger strike, and nobody wants that. The only drawback is the limited weapons and sometimes the gameplay may seem repetitive, but the great voice acting makes up for that ( Adam West!). Lastly, the whole system of putting numbers on all of the badguys and robing them in hoods was genius. BEST FPS EVER!!! Lullaby P.S. Please print in magazine. I am allowed to get a new car for myself (when I get my license) if I get a letter printed in Gamepro.

One of the best PS2 FPS.

I don't know why everyone has negative views on this game. This is definitely one of my favorite PS2 FPS. I congratulate Ubisoft for not being afraid to try something new and different. The story is incredibly good for a FPS. The ending left me hungry for more. The sound is great and this game had Hollywood stars lend their voices to the game. The gameplay in this game is great and very varied. There are thoughtful stealth missions, run-n-gun missions, bosses, hostage situations, etc. The weapons are pretty standard for a FPS but I don't mind. The cool thing is that each weapon has primary as well as secondary fire. There are also some cool gadgets such as the grappling hook, etc. The locations are very varied as well. You can tell Ubisoft really thought this one out. The locations range from a sandy beach to snowy mountain areas, from a bank to a submarine base. I like the variety and it sure beats having only one main area where all the levels take place. The graphics however are where the game really shines. The cell-shaded graphics are unique, stylish, and great. It really adds some class to the game. Since XIII is based on a French comic, it seems normal to give it a comic book style presentation. When you kill someone with a head shot, it shows it in three separate boxes up close. I really loved that feature and applaud the creators for going the extra step to make the game more enjoyable. The story is loosely based on the Kennedy assassination. Your main character has amnesia and the number XIII tatooed on his chest, hence the title. You don't know who you are but find out you sure know how to face opponents. The story takes a unique twist at the end which was unexpected. Overall, this is a great game which got mixed reviews. It's a "love it" or "hate it" type game. You can't really have mixed feelings toward it. Rent it, try it, and see if it's your style. If it is, you wont be disappointed. If it isn't, well there are other fish in the sea.

XIII is unique, different and is one game you shouldn't judge by it's cover.

Many of you probably said while looking at the previews said that this game was going be just a waste of money.I guess you were wrong because XIII turns out to be a cool, different FPS with a gripping story line that leaves you on your edge of your seat wanting for more. NoT So UnLuCkY AfTeR AlL XIII is based a French comic book,no really it is.The game starts off you lying on a beach not knowing a single thing. Then you have the number"XIII"(Thirteen)painted on your chest and aparently you killed the president. But then some people call you by the name of Steve Rowland. So you're this man who doesn't know a single thing from your past and a bunch of bad guys come after you.The cool part is that you get to play your flast backs. The story is very entertaining and makes the game very addictive. The cut scences are quite...different.The cut scences are really comic that unfolds which makes it more entertaining. To KiLl Or NoT To KiLl Thecel-shaded graphics are really good. The sound is good with nice voiceovers and the controls are smooth and very easy to learn. The gameplay is very fun. There is a wide range of weapons such sniper rifle, assult rifle and a sniper crossbow. (?!)You can also pick everyday items like a chair or knif and you can attack people with them. Now there is something you don't see in many FPS.You can also take hostages.Using wepons like the crossbow or knives you can shoot into people's head's and there would be a mini comic strip pop up showing the guy's face getting getting a bow stuck in his head. XIII is... But with many games, XIII gets old too quickly. After you beat the game, there isn't really much left to do.Online is fun at first but not the greatest online experince like Socom. Overall, XIII is a good game and one that you should rent. XIII is unique, different and fun. It may not hold your attention for a very long time but playing XIII was a blast. Graphics: 5.0 Sound: 4.5 Controls: 4.5 Fun Factor: 4.0

I still don't see what the big deal is....

Ok, I don't know what all the fuss is about, this isn't that great. So the graphics are outstanding and no one can ever get tired of watching a guy set sniped off a cliff frame by frame. But the story, boring. The gameplay, repetitive. The game, too short. Voice acting, ok. Its just another first person people. You guys are just too blinded by the graphics to see that.

Ready, Set, STEALTH!!!

XIII was the heavily hyped cel-shaded shooter (try to say that 3 times really fast) that twitch gamers have been waiting for, and they were almost in for the perfect surprise. The game stars you as XIII, (maybe) who wakes up on a beach with amnesia and soon discovers that he is involved in a deep and riviting plot full of asssasinations and many roman numerals. The graphics in this game are obviously the highlight. Even though we have seen everything there is too see in an FPS, hence the machine gun, tons of enemies, a few escort missions, ect. ect. the crisp cel shading technique makes this game seem like something completely new. Plus since it is based on a comic book, if you make a clean killshot to the head, a pop up kind of like a story board highlights this kill, making you feel like the snipe king. The story is first rate. Even though slightly confusing at points, any nimwit could basically understand it, but it still retains a feeling of a twisted plot that you can't, or can, wait too see the end of. The only problem with this game is the abundance of stealth missions. This is an FPS! When I have an M-16 and a rocket launcher, I don't want to have to use a crossbow, and throwing knives. They wouldn't be so bad if you didn't fail the mission if you were spotted. Plus this is no Metal Gear. They can see as far as you can. I mean, who sends an agent into a heavilly fortified base with one clip of ammo and some throwing knives? Your not snake. You can't break people's necks or anything. Overall, XII is an enjoyable experience in it's one player mode and it's online and offline multiplayer. This game offers solid gameplay, graphics, and story, but the stealth drags the overall fun factor down.

Oh...My...God...

Okay, heart, stop your thumping. BAM! I just inserted the disk. WHAP!! KABOOM! Oh, how nice, the title screen. Now what to do about that unseemly puddle on the floor. Straight to the point, this game is a one of a kind ge. The graphics are so razzle dazzle it is unbelievable. The controls are perfect, and there are no complaints. Now even though i am an avid comic book geek, I am not giving this game a high score because of prejudice. THIS GAME ROCKS!! All gamers should get this, even non-FPS fans.
