I loved DMC 1 when it came out and I played through it numerous times, but this is a downright travesty! This game takes everything that was good about the first game and throws it in the dumpster!
Story: Some whack job story about some evil corporation leader trying to become a demon. It's a lame premise that I prefer not to even talk about. I know DMC didn't have much story going on, but if your gonna add a big narrative, at least make an interesting one.
Graphics: Dante and his cohorts looks great, but environment and enemy models have noticeably lower polygons per model. This game is all quantity over quality. They obviously opted for more enmies on screen rather than interesting looking enemies onscreen.
Sound: Same mix of gothic and heavy metal music. It fits the mood well. Voice acting is pretty lame.
Gameplay: Same as DMC1, but with lamer levels, and not so interesting enemies or bosses. It may be similar, but it just doesn't captivate you like the original did.
Overall: This is one of the bigger dissapointments in gaming. I bought this blindly, thinking it would be great. What a waste of my hard earned money.
Shame

Devil May Cry and Devil May Cry 3 are good games, but this game just tarnishes the very DMC name. It shouldn't have even been made. The first one was brilliant fun, but lacked almost any kind of story. It was still a well loved game and had tons of great action and awesome boss fights.
Story: It's some crappy story about a business man named Arius who wants to possess demon like powers and Dante is called to stop him. It's a really cheesy plot that is comepletly forgettable.
Graphics: It almost seems as if the graphic quality dropped. Dante and Lucia look good, but the enemies have a noticible drop in polygons. The environments can be pretty drab in outdoor areas as well. Just not too good...
Sound: DMC does have a decent gothic/heavy metal soundtrack. It may be the best aspect of the game actually, considering this game is horrible.
Gameplay: very similar to DMC one, with a few new fancy " moves thrown in. It's a cool for a few minutes I guess. The enemies are alot more boring than in the previous one, making fighting them not too much fun and the bosses aren't as intriguing either. Dante and Lucia do control well though. O ya, Lucia haha. She isn't too fun to play as, and you end up wishing she didn't exist.
Overall: a pathetic effort, this game should have never been made. I bought it because I liked DMC, but it was a bad idea on my part.
Just disapointing

After the great DMC original they come out with a sequal that you can only say "man improvement's on the first one how could they go wrong?" Well they did. They focused way to much on detail and just ruined the already fun and easy to grasp gameplay. The control's are easy to learn but you can almost never completly master. Though the combat controll's are solid and walking on wall's and doing back flips off of wall's ect are welcome move's. The check item button (action button) is the button for jump so the whole game you will be flipping around while you are trying to check stuff if you are not in the proper position to check somthing. The story line. . . . . . I mean what happened, you take one of the more creative storyline's as of late in video game's. . . . and I would like to say they destroyed it but 3 year's later I still am kind of fuzzy what is going on. I mean I know what the conclusion is about but it's a Dual disc game and in order to grasp anything out of the game you have to play both disc's. Each disc being a broken story line. Instert other disc to fit in hole's. So the first time you play the game threw it is going to just be like WTF? And the second time it will be a slightly more understanded WTF? The game is also extreamly easy. And I am talking on the most hardest level of difficulty I beat the game in less than 1 hour. Which bring's me to my next point that this game is extreamly short, to short and easy. I mean if you couldn't just walk threw this game. . . eh mabee then it would just be short but tis game is crazy short. Both disc's of gameplay will probably take you a total of 3 hour's max to beat. The only bright spot in this game is the grafix. The grafix look extreamly good this game is loaded with eye candy. It's just unfortunate that this is the only real plus the game bring's to the table. That and the audio the Sound FX are spot on, and the OST hit's it's mark once again. Overall I really wouldn't suggest this game too to many people. I mean if you are absolutly love the first one and really feel the need to play as Dante this will definatly fill your void for a couple of hour's. But it's just a lack luster sequal rolling with the thunder of it's original.
What is the big deal?

DMC 2 was said to be a terrible game but I think is great! The graphics were a little out dated but still you could tell the bad dudes from the walls. The controls buged the crap out of me but I got used to them the health meater on the bad dudes was the greatest emprovement from DMC 1. Lastly I liked to be able to swich weapons on the go.
Way too easy

i rented the game and beat it about three hours latter. the only hard part was the boss with the tenticals. that took me thirty minutes. so really i only spent about two hours playing, not counting boss fights.

I think Devil May Cry 2 is a good game to play if you like the whole Dark Knight kind of thing. To me it could have been better as far as the limitations on where you can go it should have been free based.
Wow A blast from the devil himself

This game kicks serious ass... Dante and his new hoe..i mean "partner" Lucia make a really good team. The fact that u can play as both is tite. The only reason i didnt give this a 5 was because...it really isn't as challenging as the first one. But hey, atleast it's still pimp :-]
Not bad...

The repetitive shooting gets old. Still, good graphics and gothic setting. The controls are a little annoying. They auto-aim, but on one level, you had to find and strike all of these globes within a few minutes, as the building you're in brinks on destruction. Monsters pour in from every crevice, and with auto-aiming you run towards a globe you just found, press X to strike it (which takes several hits to count), but Dante or Lucia swings around towards the monster behind them! This almost had me pulling my hair out. Control has a lot to do with the fun factor, so: Control: 4 Graphics: 4.5 Sound: 3.5 (Very quiet ghost towns become too quiet.)
Even better than the first one!!!

It's playability is even better than Devil May Cry's. And playing with Lucia is very cool. She's faster than Dante. And you also have the possibility of evolving your weapons. It's a MUST-BUY GAME!!! THE BEST GAME OF PS2!!!
