This game really surprised me. I thought it would be a cheap 'Max Payne' ripoff, but it wasn't. The action is pretty awesome, the story was decent, & the mini-games were...........interesting. The graphics, though bland, aren't so bad. The Shadow scenerios were a bit odd, but still OK. I just wish that part 2 was anything like this.

When I first saw the commercials for Dead to Rights, I fell in love with the game. When I first played it, I khew I had found a true gem. This game took the run & gun tactics of Max Payne, and extended it. Sure, the story is your average case of government conspiracy, but the gunplay is more advanced than Max Payne. You can use cover, melee attacks, use people as a sheild, send a dog to kill your foes, and pull of some ultra violent gun grapples. But the hallmark of the game is the minigames. You can defuse bombs, pick locks, arm wrestle, and even play a stripping minigame. The only problem I see with the game is that it is short. But in my opinion, that just means that the charm of the game doesn't have a chance to get stale. There is a sequel out, but the original is 10 times better.

It is a very fun game, but it only took me like 1 day to beat it, so if they do make a sequel, make it like 5 times harder, an make it longer. thats all i got to say about this game, but its still really fun.
flat out awesome

this game is so cool with good graphics awesome gameplay good sound sound and alot of fun the the main character is jack slate a cop whos trying to find out who killed his father then goes beyond that the graphics are ok but could have used alittle more work and the voice acting is cool the mini games are cool the main flaw with this game is the camera resulting in when you go inslow motion your aiming gets all crazy and you cant see your enimes when hes shooting you. overall defintly pick up this game and max payne +good graphics +cool sound +awesome gameplay +sweet mini games -camera issues

Im not realy into these games but i decided to rent the game. It was realy worth it to rent it So just read this review, So if you liked MAX PAYNE you will like this. Story- You're Jack Slate and hell bent on revenge leaving plenty of violent opportunities to arise. Although it does get confusing from time to time, it's always entertaining. The story kicks ass!!! Controls- The controls could have been much better. You use the lock-on sight to kill enemies which is annoying when you want to shoot the guy with the rocket launcher out of a group of people. You have to push the R1 button so many times it's not even funny. But besides the crappy lock-on sight, the controls are fine. Sound- The sound of the guns firing in this game are amazing. And the background noise pumps me up for the violent gun fights. The actors voice overs are done very well IMO. And Jack Slate's voice fits the part perfectly. Camera- It could have been so much better. The camera gets annoying in parts of the game which is probably the game biggest fault. It's a good thing you can change the camera angle or I would have to grade this part even lower. Disarms- Disarms are so cool they get their own space. If you're unarmed in the game you can do a gruesome disarm on your enemies which are good for you, and fatal for them. What makes this feature so bad ass is how you can put it in slow motion and savor the flavor. Graphics- Waaay better then Max Payne. I'm not judging this game based on Max Payne but I can honestly say the graphics blow Mr. Payne out of the ****ing water! The graphics are smooth as can be and surprising detailed. From the blood splattering from Shadow tearing an enemy to shreds to the bullet rounds dropping from the gun. Rating; Story-5 Controls-3 Sound-4 Camera-2 Disarms-5 Graphics-4 I would buy IT!!

I only have a few complaints about this game. But all my complaints are major ones. First of all, this game is almost exactly like Max Payne. One is Jack.. one is Max.. wow.. different names.. both cops.. different storylines.. somewhat.. Secondly, the game is way too unrealistic. I understand that is what video games are for. Just considering I was drenched with helicopter bullets and turret gun bullets in the same level.. and lived.. Lastly, the game was suprisingly short. It had 7 chapters. The game was just to easy to make them last. I disagree with the minigames being too long. The only minigame I found really that annoying was defusing of bombs, which was probably the hardest thing in the whole game. The stripper minigame would've been too long.. but hey everyone loves a stripper. All in all the game was fun. But I just get tired of x box titles being made into ps2 titles. Without a few months of editing. This game could've been the best game I've played all year. But the major things in the game overall made it only good for maybe a rental.

This game is good overall. I disagree with your statement that mini- games go on for too long. I also disagree with your statement of the fighting system being limited. The fighting system is fairly detailed considering depending on the situation, you could bring in your dog, your gun, or the snapping of an enemy neck. Plus there are many combos that can be pulled off. Bullet time may have been taken from Max Payne, as well as the whole atmosphere of the game, but this game sure isn't Max Payne. It's Dead to Rights. Everyone's right to disrespect the beauty of this game is dead.
