True Crime is not as fun as gta

This game i found to be very repetitive. the gameplay was harder than gta but i like running from police and shooting down helicopters. the fact that there is slow motion in the game does not make it better. the sound was good and the controls were ok but i like it when a car stops in front of me so i can jack it. instead, they run you over and that kept pissing me off when i was chassing someone.

Grand Streets of Roadkill

Ever since the success of the Grand Theft Auto series, it is not unusual for a few copycats to rear their heads and say, "Me too!" But True Crime is not an exact duplicate and even has a good idea with this one. You play as the sterotypical bad boy cop Nick, who starts out busting triad goons in downtown L.A. Then it moves up the latter into laundering and Russian mobs, yadda yadda. Back to the good part. The game revolves around you driving around the city and solving street crimes, which thankfully give you different reasons for basically chasing down a perp in a car and either killing or arresting him. But strangely, it seems every one in L.A has trained with some martial arts master and carries and automatic weapon. Have you ever seen a granny punch you in the face 3 times and then throw you to the ground? I haven't. Solving street crimes allows you to gain good or bad cop points, which in turn effect the ending of the game. The fighting sequences are fun at first, (although the animations sometimes look like they are having siezures) but later in the game the bosses become extremely cheap. Having to retry 30 times before giving up in anger because some purple haired chick could block everything and do the same cartwheel 3 times in a row without the player even being able to get up isn't exactly fun. Although the fighting can be fun, shooting is frustrating as well. Although firefights can be fun when it is involved in the story, gunfights in the street are way too tough. There is almost no cover and you will die in about 5 seconds if they get a hit on you. Not good. Although you can also play through this game as good cop or bad cop and also just move on if you fail a mission, the game punishes you by not allowing you to upgrade, which makes the game feel really linear. The game has a really good premise of mixing different things into a goom non-linear game, but the game just plain feels clunky and suffers from bad voice acting and execution. It's a shame.

I agree with gamepro.

Everything Gamepro said about this game i agree with, the reason i changed my mine on this game form a 4.5 to a 3.5 is because I realized that it wasn't that good (this is still a review for the Cube not the PS2). the fighting is really sweet tho, some of the best fighting i've seen in an action game. the mission's get old after a while, give us something different here, its the same crap everytime. An another thing why is activision making action games like this? leave the action games to Rockstar, activision does a really good job with tony hawk, stick with those types of games activision, not action games like True Crime, its not that could, rockstar could have done a better job then activision.

Xbox version is better.

Now before you people start yelling and cursing, let me explain. The only reason I feel that the Xbox version is better is becaus of the music. First of all, I hate rap, I can't stand it at all cause Rap is crap. And True Crime is full of rap and the Xbox allows you to change the music which is great. Other than that, the game is great for the Xbox and the PS2. I played both versions. Basicly the same exact games, just on different consoles. Now for the people who say its like GTA, it isnt. In GTA3/VCity, you feel more alive in the enviorment. The radio stations, the funny remarks by the adnormal citizens all make you feel like your in a living city. The bikes and helis also make GTA a lot greater but the fighting in TC is so much better. The two games are great. True Crime isnt worse or better than the GTA series. Its a different game, but also a great one. Buy this game or at least rent it, you wont regret it. P.S. The damage to the cars in True Crime is much more realistic than GTA3/VC.

very close i repeat very close to gta

True Crimes is good.It got beautiful graphics, cool music and weapons and the characters and voices i love it.The only downside are that missions are repetitive and easy and the loadings are very slow and there are a lot.The control is a bit dificult to learn. If you love gta rent it,if you dont like it forget about it.Very close, man, very close.

Enough of GTA. Time to try True Crimes for a change!

GTA...GTA,GTA,GTA,GTA.....True Crimes? Tired of GTA? (You're probaly aren't)Wanna try a diff game? No need to look because True Crimes is here! YOU'RE A COP Instead of runaway fugitive in GTA, this time you're a cop and the great thing about that is that the cops wont't go after you and you can kill anyone you want. Also as you're exploring the streets of L.A. you run into crimes and it's your job to stop it. Plus there is missions too. GTA....OR TRUE CRIMES? True Crimes is very like GTA. The whole atmosphere is quite the same. The graphics are better than GTA's. One bummer in sound is that you can't chose a radio station but everything else is okay. The controls are quite confusing. There are hundreds of buttons to do hundred of things. With nice blur/matrix feel to the game (which is cool) also able to many type of kung-fu moves which is also cool. The game is really awsome but the big bummer is that you feel that you have played this before...and there's nothing really new but a few new features than GTA. This game is at least a rent. This game is also great fo Gamecube owners because there is not GTA for GC. Graphics: 4.5 Nice blur effects, pretty nice graphics. Sound:3.5 Okay sound effects and can't chose radio station.......? Control:4.0 Pretty nice controls, smooth but too much confusing bottons. Fun Factor: 4.0 Fun, but too similar to GTA in some ways.

This Game kicks a**

This game is soo fun! There is only one drawback......if your too reckless the games is too short and you must try again to get the better ending. It's fun busting criminals and all of the jokes the game makes about famous people from california(Chasing O.J simpsons White Bronco). This is a good game because it is challenging and fun, plus the Cars are the best you can unlock an enzo and my favourite 69'mustang!
