Marvel v.s. Capcom 2

For quite a while the 2-d game genre has been falling. It just cant contend with the cool appeal of a 3-d game. But this game shows that the genre will be going out in a blaze of glory. Now for those of you who weren't um....lucky enough to own a dreamcast you probably walked right past this masterpeice. Well now is your chance to experience one of the greatest fighting games (in my opinion) of all time. Capcoms been known for their overly innovative fighting games (Street Fighter Alpha, Capcom v.s.S.N.K., Marvel V.S.Capcom)and this one is no exception. From the moment you start playing you'll be inclind to play the game to the fullest. Like its predecessor, you conjure up a 3-man team and engage in some fast pased action. The action is obviously where this game shines the most. Its incredible. From learning your first special move, to learning air combos, to doing triple combos at your own will. Its so satisfying beating the comp and your friends in stylely and painfull combos. And with the huge roster of characters (46.Thats alot. I dont even think the King of Fighters series has that much)you can be sure that whoever grabs hold of this game will have a three man team in no time. Theres a team for everyone. I mean it! And upgrading your team is fun aswell. As you get more characters your team will almost always change, always adding new stronger poeple to your team. This keeps the replay value high. The controls are sharp. No problem there. The music is jazzy and.....unique. The graphics dont fare as well though. After playing Guilty Gear X, my expectations of a fighting game have been high in the animation department. Guilty Gear x's animations were hand drawn and then pixilated, which makes its graphics rise above the competition. But hey MVSC2'S graphics get the job done. They might be showing their age but their still decent. But you wont notice that when your pulling off 30 hit combos in the air will you.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2

First off, I bought this game when it came out for the Dreamcast and played it constantly by myself and with friends. I got a PS2 shortly after it came out but still found myself going back to MVC2 again and again. I wished for two long years that Capcom would release an upgraded version of it for the PS2 and now it's here. It looks like the arcade version down to the last pixel and runs at the same frame rate, but other than that, there is no difference from this version and the dreamcast one. That's just fine with me though as there is still no other fighter with so many characters besides Capcom vs. SNK2, though it lack the hyper combo madness of MVC2,which is what really made me fall in love with this game, and why I still love it more than any other fighter out there. Even if you prefer 1 on 1 fist fighting action this game delivers, though in this game its 3 on 3. I've heard people complain about cheap characters but there is always a way to deal with each one, it just requires practice. This game is for anyone who likes fighting games and doesn't mind a lot of 3 player hyper combo chaos. I honestly think more companies should try something similar because the hand to hand combat fighting probably won't get better than Virtua fighter 4 for some time and it's actually getting pretty old. This is the most original fighting game to come along in a long time.

fun but simple graphics...

first of all if youre expecting a game thats graphicly up to par with the likes of VF4 or Tekken look somewhere else. on the other hand if your looking for the best VS title from CAPCOM to date your in luck. this game has the most fast and furious gameplay of any fighter out there. the list of charachters is massive. granted you have to unlock almost half of them their there. the arcade mode is great but it's a little to short. i managed to score this game for the low price of 49.99 CANADIAN! it may be a port but it's woth your time and money. unless you hat fighters?

Marvel Vs. Capcom 2

This game is definatly for people who loved the previous Capcom Vs Series, like X-Men vs. Streetfighter, Marvel Super Heroes Vs. Street Fighter, etc. But I am disappointed in that this game came 2 years ago on the Dreamcast and no extras have been added to the PS2 version. Although the Japanese have online play, arrgh! But even if its a straight port, it's loads of fun, with 50+ character and insane combos. I wouldn't recommend buying this for $50 since it is a port of a 2 year old game. I'd pay $40 maximum since I paid $50 to play the Dreamcast version. Anyhow, if you've never played this on the Dreamcast, buy it for the PS2 but realize it's a port of an old, but increadibly fun as hell game!
