Excessively Challenging and Fun.

Ok while the difficutly of this game might turn away the casual gamer. It is definatly a game that need's to be recoginized. Shinobi is a great looking hack and slash game. The scarf is one of the cool feature's about this game, leaving trail's as you whip around baddie's chopping them to peice's. The overall detail of the game is done very well for it's style, I mean it's classic shinobi, in 3D with some CG flair. The control's are easy to grab a hold of and play but to master is a completly different experience all together. Watching somone masterfully dash there way threw group's of enemy's can almost look like a work of art. The sound FX, though fight the game extreamly well do tend to get a touch repetitive. But it's a hack and slash game what do you expect. The OST fitting the NEO-japan vibe to the game. Overall this game is done extreamly good, but you will hear it time and time again. This puppy is a hard one, you will definatly grind some teeth going threw this one. And that could be accompanied with thrown controller's and curseing. The storyline is kind of out of this world, but it fit's the Shinobi genre. The game flow's nicely with change in baddies every now and then to keep you interested. If you are looking for a challengning game that you will definatly not beat right away this one's for you. If you feel you might be intimidated by the difficulty of the game you might want to put your money elsewhere. Overall just a great rage inducing game that I would suggest to anyone who is interested.

Ninja Goodness

Shinobi brings to light what every action game needs. Smart enemy AI, catchy music, and abilities to manipulate gameplay such as dashing, powerups, and running on walls. The game plays very smoothly and the enemy lock-on system is very good without bad camera work. The only issue with Shinobi is the high difficulty past the beginning levels, which only expert gamers will be able to survive in. Definetly worth a rental.

COULDN'T BE BETER

THIS IS BETTER THAN TENCHU 1,2,AND 3.EVERYONE SHOULD GET THIS ONE THAN ANY OTHER GAME IT IS..One of the staples of the grand 2D era, Shinobi, at long last goes 3D in a huge way with the first true next- gen incarnation of the popular Sega franchise character For the uninitiated, Shinobi is one of the "big three" ninja characters along with Ninja Gaiden's Ryu Hayabusa and Strider in the futuristic ninja saga of the same name,But while Hayabusa has yet to show his next-gen self (in playable form, anyway) and Strider remains in 2D, Shinobi completely revamps his tried-and-true side-scrolling origins in an intense adventure where only the toughest gamers will fear to tread

NOT BAD... FUN

The game itself was pretty good but I just think there could have been some improvements. Those dogs you cant hit from the front are a pain to beat and can get annoying. Graphics and fun factor aren't bad and it has a decent replay value.

Dated yet charming

Shinobi is like that geeky friend you had when you were in middle school: Clumsy, annoying, but still likeable. The problem with the game is it's unnecesarily complicated. The levels are long and have no checkpoints, which is bad because there are some levels where there is no health at all. The control layout is simple because ther are only three buttons you will always use, however they are mapped out on buttons that they are not usually on. Plus their "lock on" feature is weak. But for all of it's problems, Shinobi is still a great hack and slash game.

Shinobi Monkeys

One of the greatest game ever played. Take my word for it. Though its frustrating to play, trying to make the prefect combo and doing a 'tate' on your enemies its fun watching them split into tiny little pieces. Thats the only downside of it, too friggin hard. Other wise its a must have for PS2 gamers.

Old-school meets the new era.

I've enjoyed the past Shinobi games on the very beloved Sega Genesis. This new Shinobi is his usual badass self, but he's missing his past spark. First of all, I'm not purposely trying to point out Shinobi's flaws, but some of them are so noticeable they're unbearable. The sometimes- unresponsive controls are solid, but the camera sometimes strays out of view, making you a sitting duck for killer ninjas and vicious dogs. The graphics are PS2 material, but it doesn't quite exceed the graphical limits the PS2 currently offers. Other games that have taken advantage of the PS2's graphic capabilities are Final Fantasy X and Time Crisis 2; take some notes Shinobi. One more thing to complain about is the insanely irritating difficulty. Even the dumbest ninjas you fight are as smart as Einstein, and the bosses make you want to throw your PS2 across the room and smash it with a sledgehammer. Fixing these problems before its release could've made Shinobi the best installment since The Revenge of Shinobi. Now, onto the pros of this flexible game. The special effects of this game is very good to the eye, and the blur effects when Shinobi leaves his shadow behind looks good enough to eat. The slice-and-dice action never stops, and the different ways of cutting up your enemies into a gajillion pieces is very, very fun. I was almost convinced I could walk on the ceiling myself after seeing a demonstration from the master assassin himself. The sometimes repetitive platform jumping could have been limited and replaced with more sword-fighting. Shinobi is a classic, and while it's not an outstanding game, it's still a worthy weekend play with your friends over with some pizza and Pepsi. Warning: this game is for players with ultra-long patience and a flair for the 1990's.

Great in more than one way

The only flaw I noticed in this game is that there are no check points. You die in the level and you have to start in the begining

This game may be rally tough but after you play a while you get used to it.Shinobi is not a game for everyone, if you're looking for a challenge, look no more, Shinobi's BACK!!! Graphics:4.0 Nice grahics though, could be better. Sound:4.5 Need's better music but nice voice-overs in the cinemas and nice Sound efex. Control:4.5 Good controls. Fun Factor:4.5 Fun but only people who are looking for real challenge this is the game you should get. 8/10
