Everquest 2: Just a late reminder

Just as the MMORPG era begins, SOE comes out with quite an impressive game. Everquest 2 is set about 500 years after EQ1. Being an newbie to this whole MMORPG thing, i was quickly hooked with the storyline and how well the customization options were. You could make your character look so unique that you will never find the player with the same features. The gameplay is great and the exp grind is appropraite for this game and makes you feel as if you really earned it, unlike diablo2 (although that was a great game also). Armor, classes, weapons, levels, maps, and the music were all unique in their own way and really sets this franchise apart from the others. Dont get me wrong, every other MMORPG deserves great credit, but to differentiate EQ2 from WOW, EQ2 is more for MMORPG veterans and the ones who take it seriously with many more mature players while WOW is more for the player who doesnt have much time and involves more kids playing (trust me i know, getting stabbed in the back repeatedly in WOW by kids was expected). That doesnt make the game look bad though, its just players around the world giving their taste of fun to others. Arguably, this game is great with many great features. Graphics are beautiful and the players in it gives me the impression that this game is taken seriously as a profession which feels cool because you know your playing with people who actually care. All in all, its all about the people playing in it, but the game deserves much great credit. Great job SOE.

Everquest II

Everquest II is finally here, and it entered with a bang. With new servers constantly opening up, the game is definitly growing quickly... Everquest II brings a new storyline, arch, classes, races, and of course, weapons, armor, and creatures with it. Veterans of EQ will have no trouble getting into the swing of gaming, me being a EQ player myself... The graphics are great, and the animation makes it every bit more pretty to look at. Flora waving in the wind, trees rustling... Its amazing the amount of detail put into the world.. The character models are also done well... While fighting, your face may turn to a scowl, or smile when your character is happy... Of course the fighting is a little bit of the same as EQ itself, with some nice touches added in. One new touch is the "Hero Opportunity", Which gives a cycle of attacks or abilities you must perform in order to accomplish it... Upon completing it, major damage is scored on the enemy.. These can be accomplished solo, or with a group... Adding to tactics and synchronization, as one wrong ability can throw it off... Finding groups is also no problem in EQ2... Deep Player Search engines are available, so you can find players who are LFG (looking for group), or just people to lend a helping hand... Overall, I dont think you can go wrong with Everquest II, as long as you can handle the exp grind, and the long patches ;-P
