This is one of the few Star Wars games I would recommend to those who are not fans of the saga. It's simply a fantastic and innovative RPG on its own, even without the Star Wars license. Of course, the fact that it's a Star Wars game just takes the awesome factor that much further. There is a truly deep and engaging story here, which takes place roughly 4,000 years before the events of the films, and so it obviously does not lean on established storylines. That's not to say that there is nothing familiar though, as the game features Tattooine, Twi'leks, scoundrels, and even a character who resembles a blue Yoda. It's the best Star Wars spin-off I've experienced, even without the excellent gameplay. The depth of each character's personality and background is matched by the very deep traits and abilities that each character can learn. For instance, there's the proud Wookiee, Zalbaar, who is great with a bowcaster and machines, and although he is slow he can take a lot of damage (a la Chewbacca.) The dialogue is deep and well-written to back up the story, with options for how to continue the conversation. You can even choose to follow the path of the Jedi by being courteous and helping others, or you can bully others and become a Sith. The battle mechanics are also deep and satisfying, as there are many different special abilites for each class of character that can be learned and used in real time. The action is surprisingly smooth for an RPG, as you can either order simple commands or pause the action while you select up to four consecutive turns for each character. You don't feel overwhelmed trying to switch between characters and navigate menus, nor does the action necessarily slow to a turn-based crawl. If I have one complaint about the game, and this is a minor annoyance, it would have to be how your character misses enemies that are standing still less than a foot away at times, and at other times he stands completely still himself and just lets enemies attack away without even trying to defend himself. I know it's an RPG and all, but come on....
Deliciously Wonderful

How could a Star Wars RPG be anything less than stellar? Well if it's KotOR, perfection slips from its hands thanks to the crappy combat system. Perhaps folks who are particularly fond of turn-based fighting enjoyed it, but I had some difficulty in the beginning. I got used to it, but only chagrinedly so. Thankfully every other aspect of the game makes up for it. Everything from character creation to the light or dark side choices is enjoyable. Plus, once the lightsaber is in your hands, not even turn-based fighting can distract you from the awesomeness. The most solid aspect of this game? The storyline. Complete with a twist M. Night Shyamalan would be proud of. Once the momentum starts rolling on the story, it's hard to stop playing. I was so hard-core into this game the first time I played, I even took my XBOX to my parents' house so that I would not be interrupted by something as trivial as Thanksgiving. It was serious. Basically: buy it

One of the better and most popular star wars games KOTOR takes a new look at Star Wars games by making a new RPG style game.It is a slow start but it does get better as it goes on.The battle system is decent and the graphics are good.Controls could have been better but not a problem.Overall a good game for the Xbox.

KOTOR is a great game. The world feels expansive, nearly everything is customizable, the story is epic in it's own right. The game draws you in wants keep you there. My only problem is the game can get a little glitchy sometimes. But it's not a big deal.

This game is absolutely perfect! The best game I've ever played! The story is very very interesting and it happens 4000 years before the rise of the galactic empire. You play as Revan and at the end of game you must defeat Darth Malak (your former apprentice). The characters are interesting and funny (especialy Bastila and Carth), although some of them (like Zaalbar) sometimes get on my nerves (but you shouldn't bother too much with them). The graphics in this game is perfect and sound effects are very nice. If you are bored, purchase this game and you'll have more of a fun than you can even imagine. You won't regret if you buy this game, trust me!
A must have for the XBOX.

Knights of the Old Republic is a must have in any XBOX collection! Knights of the Old Republic is set in the Star Wars Universe. It takes place thousands of years before Episode I. There are similar creatures in from this game and the movies, and the same goes with weapons. You play as a Republic Trooper. Your ship was under attack by the Sith, and you luckily made it out alive. The Republic and the Sith are struggling for galactical domination. Your character is customizable. You can be a male or female. You can also choose your class among soldier, scout and scoundrel. Both have their strengths and weaknesses, and you should enjoy all of them. You also meet different compainions through out the whole game. There are nine all together, but you can only have two with you at once. Your character also gets access to force powers and lightsabers. This makes your character seem like a great Jedi to use, and it is really fun to do. The combat in the game looks amazing. There are people blasting laser guns at you, while some use lightsabers to kill people. It looks like a mega action game, though it is actually an RPG. If one of your party members die, you don't need to worry as they come back to life. But if you all die, you go back to the main menu. Graphically, the game looks fantastic. The character models look amazing, the environments look stunning, and the lightsabers also look great. Knights of the Old Republic is one of the XBOX's best games, and owners shouldn't think twice before buying it. It would be a clear miss if you don't buy it!

This is the best game I have ever played in my life, ever.
This is the game that got me interested in RPGs as this was the first RPG I had ever played up to that point more than three years ago. This game turned out to be much more than I had ever imagined it would be to my surprise and enjoyment.
If you have not yet bought this game for either the Xbox or PC, you should get it. I hope the third installment will be as good as this, but I doubt that because this was such a great game.
