Good game, worth a rental.

With it's simple gameplay and light storyline, Alter Echo is a fun break from Jak and .Hack and your regular RPG. The story is pretty standard: spaceman crashes on planet, spaceman can't escape planet, spaceman joins with planet to destroy the planets creator. You play as Nevin, a man with the ability to morph echoplast into any form he chooses. While trapped on a planet made of pure echoplast Nevin uncovers a plot to take over the entire galaxy, and of course, Paavo, the evil mastermind behind it, can't just let nevin leave with that information. While hiding from the bad guys Nevin discovers that the planet is alive and wants to help him save the universe. The planet gives him a supersuit and off you go, traveling from Master Node to Master Node altering the planet's surface to put a stop to Paavo's plans. One of the major features of the game is your echoplast suit which gives you the ability to morph into any of three forms to help with the task at hand. The stealth form alows you to climb walls and turn invisible, the sword form allows you to unleash some serious hurt with your echoplast sword, and the gun form turns you into a cannon toting juggernaut. The only drawbacks are the poor script and sub par voice acting. And the vaguely Dance Dance Revolutionish, Time Dilation atacks that are necessary but slow down the hack n' slash action. The bottom line is, it's a fun game but only worth renting.
