One of the best movie-based games out there.

I really liked this game. I thought it would suck like most movie-based games do but this one exceeded my expectations. This is more of an action/horror game and is based on the John Carpenter film of the same name. I really liked how you were the team leader and had to control your team. It really made me feel like I had control. I do have some minor problems with the game, though. One is the graphics, the facial expressions and lip synching could have been better during the cutscenes. Also, the last boss wasn't as much of a challenge as the rest of the game which was kind of a downside. Anyway, this a great game and proves that movie-based games can turn out fun.
The Thing, Awsome follow up to the best movie ever

This game is awsome. I like the trust fear idea, where your team may not trust you at all, then they shhot you. Burning the things is cool, I LOVE IT
This game rocks

At first,I really didn't like it.But it grew on me.You won't like it when you first play it,but keep playing it and it will rock your world into a terrifying nightmare.Anyway, the review:Graphics:Absolute beautiful.Sound:Not very much sound, you only hear the scary music is when during a cut-scene.Controls:Good,but could be better.
excellent "sequel" to the John Carpenter Classic!

just like the movie, the game starts off slow as you walk through Outpost #31 and have no idea as to why the base is destroyed, then the action starts and its non stop. I wouldn't call The Thing survival horror like Resident Evil or Silent Hill but more of an action game than anything else. Graphics 5.0, the snow falling, the detail on the characters uniform is great and the recreation of Outpost #31 is faithful to the movie. Sound 5.0, excellent voice acting, alot of swearing like in the movie and the sounds of walking through the snow is realistic. The sounds of the Things is also creepy. Controls 5.0, great, easy controls and they respond well. Fun Factor 5.0, any fan of the movie should love this, but any normal action gamer should look into it and rent first.
Finally, a game based on a movie that is acually good

One of the best games I've ever played. The levels were very accurate to the movie and the enemy A.I. at times was just perfect. The soldiers you team up with in the game do more than act like zombies. They defend themselves, fix things, and of course mutate into living nightmares. The ending is great but I will not give it away.
The best survival horror game

This is the best game ever besides GTA3. The Thing has the most gore and vomiting plus the swearing.

I must say that I payed little attention when I heard that "The Thing" would be coming out as a video game. What was I thinking? This game breaks new grounds, not just on movie games, but on games period. Sure, there are plenty of games out there where friends betray you, but not in the suprising and graphic way these "friends" do. The usage of blood tests, flame throwers, and trust are the coolest features to this game. Yes, there are some gliches in the blood test system, but when you see your once good buddy's head explode into a disgusting abomination of flesh and blood, you'll be sadistically satisfied (after you pee yourself and frantically pull out your flame thrower to torch him). The sound effects and gore are very realistic. And, for those with weak stomachs, I do mean realistic. The sounds of the Antarctic winds blowing, the creatures screeching, etc., they're all perfect in setting the mood for one of the freakiest gaming experiences of all time. Oh, and by the way, if you've lived in a cave-within-a-cave all your life and are just now surfacing onto American soil, and you haven't seen "The Thing" movie, get to a Blockbuster and rent it as soon as you can, you pathetic loser. It's a great movie, and it makes the game that much better.

The Thing was originally a pretty good movie, but as a game is where it really shines. In the game you play as Blake a guy sent to find out about what happened to another group of soldiers in Antarctica. The Thing adds a whole new area for horror gamers to explore. The idea of having to work with a group of people has not been done in this type of game yet to my knowlage. In my opinion the sound is what truly stands out. No music!! For most games this would seem like a mistake, well not in this case. It actually adds a very creepy element and makes the screams of fear and pain really unique. Sound hasen't been this effective in a PS2 game since the launch of the system. The controls are pretty responsive and don't take long to learn. The graphics are also exceptional and the cut scenes are a good example of this. This game is the definition of FUN. I recommend it to anyone who has ever picked up a PS2 controller. The fact that you never know who to trust will have you on the edge of your seat to the last thing monster. Don't play alone.
great game

This game is so damn fun!!! If you did not know this game is a survival? horror flick. This game is a kind of game for people who like to kill, kill, kill. The graphics for this game i found pretty damn good. You will see lots of snow. Ha Ha. Anywayz for the graphics i give that a 4.5 out of 5. The sound is also pretty damn good. You hear scream, and lots more. So i say a rating of 5.0 for the sound. The controls i found were very easy to learn and were responsive, there are a couple camera flaws, but nothing big. So 4.5 for the controls. I say maybe rent this game first to see if you like it, so far though with all these good ratings you have to think that is has to be once again pretty damn good. So i hope you all enjy it as much as i did!!!
