Everyone made such a big deal when this game came out and i was so close to going out and buying it but i didn't have "exact change" so i decided to rent the game.I started the game and right from the start it just seemed a little off i mean to put it in one word...Boring. I mean i thought this would be the next armored core or something this game is overrated and when my friend said "The game is Ok" I was wondering because i thought he'd say something like this game is amazing i love it but now i see why i mean i wasn't expecting the game to blow me away like soemthing like halo or gta vice city but i expected it to please me greatly especially with my x box live anyway its simple this game didn't blow me away and recieves to much height. Please remember this is opinionated so dont bash on me.
The amount of damage one little mech can do is yummy!

The gist of the game is in the title. Get ready for some action, because once the battles start, they are among some of the best fights video games have to offer. Missiles flying everywhere, dodging bullets while at the same time squishing humans below, it doesn't get any better than this. This game is well put together and should satisfy the serious mech addict and the casual run and gun gamer alike. Getting used to the controls is a breeze. Running around in your mech feels great and you will find yourself wasting time in the beginning of the game tearing buildings apart and playing with the terrain. It is pretty cool how well the developers could give you the feel of being in a big machine, while you are holding your puny controller! The graphics are lovely. The first time you BLOW a building up, not topple it, you will squeal with glee. The colors, mood, lighting, all add up to give you an experience that isn't there in other mech games. (Steel Battalion excluded...ahem) The game story overall isn't too deep, but who gives a crap about story when you see 3 mechs in front of you all firing rockets at your head. This game is more like training for the online arena, so the replay value on the game is unbelievable. A MUST have for X-Box owners no matter who you are.
What a Game!

Mech Assault pushes the XBox gaming console to its limit with this smash-hit! Control the world's most powerful machines, in an all out battle of skill, strategy, and pure hell-raising power! Multiplayer and XBox Live capabilities are surely a big plus for this game. Gameplay difficulty is moderate. The first few missions are a breeze, but after those, lets just say, I'm still working on them.
This is just a practice run right?

It's a fun game and all, but man only 3 weapons on each mech? only a small group of mech designs to choose from? Come on people let's try again. I was lookin for a nice combination of Mech Warrior and Armored Core. Even so, I love this game for the senseless destruction and the challenge of elite difficulty. If the creators make a second one I expect a lot of improvements.
I like Mechs, You like Mechs, We all like Mechs!!!

This game is just way to fun. Its a blast, both the campaign and the head to head action (2 players only sux). The missions start slow, get you use to your mech, but by the third and fourth mission your taking on full battlions of tanks, helicopters, and two or three mechs at once. Agility, speed, and a steady hand is needed. The head to head action is sweet too. You could collapse brigades and buildings on your opponent. Collect certain power ups and some mechs can shoot from 8 to 24 missiles at once. Its a game I've been anxious to get and glad to have. GunMetal who??? Sorry their called MechAssault!!!
Not bad...

I kinda have to agree with the previous reviewer who also bought GunMetal. It's similar to GunMetal but with multiplayer support, which got rather boring quickly on the XBox Live network. Both games have excellent graphics and sounds though. So my recommendation is that if you want to own a mech-style game, get MechAssault over GunMetal.
