Its improved over the dc version by a heap. Its got everything you want offline from battle mode to challenge. If you dont have a broadband or modem dont worry just grab a few freinds and extra controllers and play split screen!!!
Good game, a little repetetive

When I got this game I was expecting a huge Rpg for some reason. I was in for a suprise. It was a basic hack and slash with some online capabilities I couldn't play. I had a ton of fun offline though playing with my cousins. It gets a little repetetive after a while and a little boring. But overall still a really good games. Just need to take it online and dish out the big bucks.
One of the best games for Gamecube!

First of all, I am a veteran from the Dreamcast version of this game. Most of the reviews for this game would be all 5.0's if half of the users actually played the game online. It's a whole different experience. Offline is highly degraded compared to Online. You get to find rare weapons, chat in a real-time lobby with other users around the United States, Japan and Europe. Not to mention play with them as well. I can't say anything else about this game because I can go on and on. You must play for yourself and get online with it. Once you get online with this game, It will change the way you play games. It kills so much time please take it from me. I had a bout 500 hours on one character and you get to have up to four characters on one card. While this game is overlooked and not as popular due to no adverstisement from Sega it is cleary one of the best. It all started with Phantasy Star Online then Phantasy Star Online Version 2. Now it's Phantasy Star Online Episode I & 2 for Gamecube and Xbox. Be on a look out next year for Episode III. Peace.
Best and only Online game there is

I would have to say that the game is pretty good. Especially for the fact that you can even play co-op with your friends. Let's start off with the graphics, better than the DC version, and definitely that much more improved. The only problem I had was with the slowdows with multiplayer. For the sounds well, it's great, but nothing much to really praise about. The controls are good, but it takes a while to figure out all the functions of each button. The fun factor? Well, it's been between a 4.0 or a 4.5. The reason I can't bring it up to a 5.0 is because I don't play the game online. That's the real deal when it comes to this game. I gave it a 4.5 because I have played the game in co-op with a friend and it's been quite a blast. You might give this game a 4.0 if you play it in single player mode, but a 4.0 for the lowest score isn't that bad. It can't get any lower than that considering this game has solid graphics and gameplay.
It's almost the best...

It's almost the best but it can't really compete with Zelda. The graphics are awesome and so is most of the gameplay. The online part is really cool to, and when you go online, you'll find out how many people besides you actually own the game.

I take back what I said. Maybe I was just a little too pissed. I've played worse games....PSO should be reviewed as so...... The graphics, for a start, should be better than the Dreamcast's versions, but seem to be nothing improved. Thusly, the visuals are outdated in Episode One, and in Episode Two, aren't really that poor. The control isn't that bad, either: It is very simple to move your character and such, as attacking. The sound still sucks: Man, the groans sound so freaky, and I hate that. Overall, there could be a better plot, it could have better visuals, and the graphics should have been spruced up a little. Not a bad little RPG, but still, I'd bet my money on .hack//INFECTION . Graphics:3.5 Sound:2.0 Control:4.0 FF:3.5
Do you believe in love at first play.

This game is probably one of the best i have EVER played. I wish i could have the online adapter, but experiencing it in single and multi modes with my dumb friends was enough. Levelin up your mag, stylin your hair, and buyin some kick arse weapons could warp someones brain. Added features, new characters, and a whole new episode will keep you playing for hours. (( :) days in my case heh heh! )) on a scale of 1.0 to 5.0 id give it a 13.5 :D!
Kickstarting the Gamecube's online ability, PSO does it with style.

The meat of the game is the online play, but any RPG fan will enjoy the offline mode. Every thing that makes an RPG good is in this game. FFX has nothing on this game, baby! This is a must buy for any Gamecube fan that likes RPGs, at least until Final Fantasy comes, rock on!
every body should play it
