Better than Half-Life?

This game is fun for teens and adults. This game has the most impressive visuals I've ever seen for a FPS. The Matrix stlte shooting is the smatest thing in the game. Should there be a Max Payne. The Infamous Blackboy

This game rocks!

I think that this is a breakthru in the way that games should be like. I think that most games of today dont have the Max Payne story to lead you thru it

A Great Game PERIOD

I first played this game when I downoaded the demo. Imeditatly my mouth hit the key board and I ran out and bought it. Let me say this game can be quite disturbing in its freaky dream sequences and a great atmosphere. There is one part where... never mind I won't ruin it for you.

Awesomeness...pure awesomeness..BUY IMMEDIATELY!

I've been playing video games for quite a while...I'd say about 7 or 8 years now, and I have never, EVER played a game as well-crafted and simply jaw-dropping before. Now there could have been more weapons or possibly martial arts involved (in slo-mo would have been sweet) but overall...this is THE BEST GAME I'VE PLAYED IN YEARS!! p.s. yes...better than Half-Life...way better

Paying your dues....And then there's Max Payne

I'm pretty much a game snob - holding out for the creme de la creme of games. With all the buzz surrounding Max Payne it was time to venture out and actually pay for a new game. The game requirements are stiff; no wussy PCs allowed. The graphics and Max's mentality set the tone for the whole game - tough, dark, gritty and oh so violent. In terms of style, this game exudes New York - circa Prohibition meets the modern Mafia. Max Payne himself is the essence of hard core badass. Tougher than nails, and with sharper than the razor's blade. Max's Philosophy: Kill 'em all; let God sort them out. Equipped with true-to-life weapons Max is on a crash course with his ill-fated destiny. Strap in and hold on! The sounds are incredible. Playing on the SB Live! with a Dolby Digital 5.1 surround system makes this game seriously intense! (Warned you I was a gaming snob.) From hallowed cries of a murdered wife and infant to the drug induced moaning of Valkyr addicts you hear the dark world Payne has submegred himself into. Play with the lights out at home - it adds to the ambience of the gloom. Bullet Time - all hail the Matrix for introducing such special effects and forever changing entertainment as we know it. Unloading round after round of buckshot into your enemies has never been much sweeter. Lunging back in slow motion you see the shot penetrate your foe, turning his murderous intent into a permanent slumber. Many will game makers will copy this feature, but the creators here should forever reap the rewards of introducing it to the gaming industry! All in all Max Payne is entertaining and highly enjoyable. From ground breaking special effects to life-like charcters and weapons, any shooter-style game fan is sure to find some pleasure in Max's dark world!

Sorry, Max Payne is way to repetitive

Max Payne. The main problem with the game is that it quickly gets repetitive. Play 2 or 3 levels and you've basically played the whole game. Sound was especially bad with the same handfull of grating screams over and over making me want to turn it off after a while. The game is also too linear. There is also something missing from the gameplay maybe the way the game automatically determines the difficulty level for you making Max way too easy and removing any sense of tension. Max Payne just doesnt get your heart racing the way all the truly great action games do. Remember Alien Vs. Predator. Now there was a game full of tension. I prefer the way games like No One Lives forever or Unreal Tournament allows the user to tweak the difficulty setting on the fly at any point in the game. I want full control of as many different aspects of my game as possible. I have to knock a full point off of the graphics for the lack of any damage modeling at all on the characters. its just unrealistic and diminishes the sense of immersion. As for the comic book style of the story it flat out sucks. I look forward to the cut scene movies of other games, like a small reward often driving me on to see whats next. I quickly got annoyed by Max Paynes drab comic book style of story telling. The bottom line here is that Max is an average game with one very cool feature. Bullet time really adds a great element to the gameplay. I just hope to see it in a better game next time.
