As the proud owner of a Necronomicon, signed by Bruce Campbell (of "Evil Dead" and "Army of Darkness"), I was glad to see such a successfully executed, Lovecraft-esque survival horror game. I recently played it through for the third time and enjoyed it just as much as the first two. I agree with everyone who says that it's better than Resident Evil, since the melee weapons are actually a respectable means for destroying everything from a Mantorok zombie to a Chat'turga guardian. I'd love to see a follow-up some time soon.

I was suprised how great this game was. It looks like they took great care in trying to get everything right. For the most part they did. The graphics are below the standard set by Resident Evil but they are still amazing. Game play is cool as you get to play different characters. Although I would like to see more of the sexy main character. Difficulty is a little uneven since some later levels are easier than earlier ones. The monsters also get some cheap hits but you shouldn't have trouble beating the badies. This is a must own classic for the GC and at $20 (Media Play) it's a steal.
Damn cool game.

Firstly, this game is one of the greatest games to ever hit any system. I may use that term a lot, but this time it's true. Not only does Eternal Darkness present a fun, challenging, and even scary game, it's also original with the sanity meter and the spells you can get. The sound and graphics are some of the best, even better than the "great" X-box graphics in most parts, I thought my GC was about to explode from all that. This is my personal pick for one of the greatest and most original games to hit the cube, that is if you like the zombies, and blood...and guts...and gore. :)

Eternal Darkness was an okay game. While some of you people out there might not enjoy sleeping on the thought of zombie's and an enraged centurion trying to kill a girl who is trying to find out about her grandfathers death, the game offers a very unique style of fighting. While you fight, you have a sanity meter which constantly goes down everytime you get the crap scared out of you. The lower your meter, the lower your sanity (duh!!). When you lose ur sanity, you blur between real life, and fantasy or should i say, nightmare. This game was fun, but i turned it in three days after i bought it. It didn't present enough of a plot. The game was just based on trying to scare the crap out of whoever played it. So i give this game a 3.5, just because it presented a fun interesting challenge, and a new style of trying to fight.

This game has so much depth, it is incredible. The graphics aren't the best thing in the world, but they are okay. It is the gameplay that makes this excellent. I played for 16 hours and I still have not beat it. I have to go through it two more times also, to beat it fully. Life is good to me. Between Metroid Prime, Resident Evil 0, and now the beauty of Eternal Darkness (I know it has been out for a while, but I just discovered it), I never have time for anyhting but Nintendo (and occasionally a bit of XBox, which I'm still waiting for the great game to convince me it was worth my money.

Well, after so many years of delays, Eternal Darkness is finally here. Looking at the game, one initially says "Resident Evil Knockoff" usually. There is so much more here though. A perfect 3d camera, easy to learn controls, and a wonderful, deep story help make ED one of the best Cube games to date. Based on personal experience, the game will take most gamers 15-20 hours to complete, at least. There's not an overwhelming difficulty like Resident Evil, so gamers are bound to be less frustrated. Puzzles are a little on the easy side, but it keeps the game moving, which is a good thing. The graphics are awesome. No framerate problems, and a level of detail in the environments that adds a lot of depth for repeat players. The art in this game alone shows the genius of Silicon Knights. All in all, this is a must own for anyone that has a GameCube AND is MATURE enough (not any specific age, just maturity) to handle it.

well i think the sanity effect was a little slow at first but soon i found things so belivable only to find it was a figment of my mind. I personally got this game only because you can use magick, which is really good i might add, youll see yourself casting spells often and many a time wishing you had more magick. the use of 12 different charachters can be weird but you get used to it, each charachter has there own abilitys, stamina, speed, weapons so you will adapt or die...
