mastachief is full of crap

what he said is a lie, sure Halo might have been in development longer but I don't think Halo has geo-mod does it? Red Faction is not a rip off of Halo, a rip off is when you steal an idea or make it strikengly similar, Halo was originally third person, and RF is NOT a rip off of Halo. Anyway, idiots like mastachief should be banned from video games and consoles and kicked on the streets. Red Faction is similar to the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie "Total Recall", you play as a miner named Parker who joins the rebels to fight against the evil Ultor. Graphics 4.5, they look great but they are kinda dated now. Sound 4.5, the sound is great, from voice acting the gun fire but the problem now is enemies keep saying the same things once in a while. Controls 4.5, exactly the same as Alien Resurrection for psx, what makes them better? the auto aiming feature of course. Fun Factor 4.5, the levels are huge and the geo-mod feature is fun to fool around with, and the multiplayer is excellent. I strongly recommend Red Faction and ignore maggots like mastachief.

an ok somewhat good mediocre FPS

this game is okay but it lacks the spunk goldeneye had when it cam out. graphics are good. the enviornments are detailed very well and the whole geo-mod thing is really cool. multiplayer is fun when you have a friend over but it's really lackluster when it's just you & the bots. the sound is average. it's not great but it's not awful it's just there. pick up this game if you need something new and are low on cash. otherwise get timesplitters 2

Best FPS on PS2

This game is cool and the geo-mod rocks. However, there are too many "metal" walls and you can only blow up rock walls. The constant load times really get annoying, and sometimes they occur right in the middle of a gunfight. The weapons are good, especially the rail driver. It's pretty cool sniping guards through walls. The graphics are good, but the character models look a little strange when they talk, and sometimes their movements are kind out of sync with the sound. The sound is great and the music was alright, but the guards' phrases get kinda old and repetitive. The controls are good. Multiplayer is fun, and putting a bunch of bots in a small area can get very hectic, but it could use 4 player compatibility and maybe capture the flag or some other mode like that. Overall, it is really fun to play.

Isnt Geo-Mod technology great?

Red Faction is a great FPS. The story is well written and keeps you on your toes. Being able to blow up a bridge and watch an enemy truck fall down it is great. The music is very good and has some nice sounds. The thing that keeps this back from a 5.0 though is the frequent load times which often becomes annoying and a hassle. Also that fact that multi- payer is only up to 2 people and you cant drive the vehicles in it is a minus. Other than that this is a great PS2 FPS and i cant wait for RF2. Get redy to join the Red Faction Resistance!

One Hell of a game

THis game rocks. The only FPS were you can change the envoirment with your weapons.I would give this game a 10.0 rating if there was one but there isn't one so its a 5.0.

Decent but not revolutionary

Hyped up massively prior to release due to it's supposedly revolutionary 'geo-mod' engine this game was actually somewhat of a disapointment when it was finally released. The 'geo-mod' techonology allows for destruction of the environment around the player. While this is sadly underused as a gameplay device it does still add a little extra dimension to the whole experience. However, the disapointment of the 'geo-mod' engine should not distract the gamer from the fact that this is still an entertaining if a little standard FPS adventure. Graphically the game is decent, but not brilliant. The control system is good, and with quite a few though not expansive options for customisation. The game carries a strong story, though this is undermined by seldom and weak cut-scenes, most of the plot being advanced via in play voice-overs. The game's real strong points are it's sense of immersion, facilitated by strong audio and ongoing, unravelling mission objectives. The set-pieces, though completely scripted, are also excellent. The chances to use vehicles are also well done, making an interesting distraction from the standard gameplay. A shallow but otherwise decent multi-player option is also included. Overall a decent package that shouldn't disapoint gamers; so long as expectations are no longer unjustifiably high.

sweet..can't wait for the sequel

This is THE FPS for ps2, possibly all three systems, kinda hard to out due halo though. The multiplayer is cool((wish it supported muilti-tap, though)), the single-player is very engaging. Graphics: 5.0((top of the line!)) Control: 4.5 ((some stuff gets tedious)) Sound: 4.0 Fun Factor:: 5.0

wam, bam, thank you mam.

This is the best FPS I have ever played. The graphics are amazing and the action non stop. The controls are dead on and the auto lock is pure joy. I wish Medal Of Honor had controls like this. This is an epic journey to be sure. The multi-player is a blast so grab your friends. This game was worth $50 and at its current price of $20 it's a steal. I can't wait for Red Faction 2.
