This is the game that made free roaming fun. Being able to just run around and stealing cars and shooting people. Thats fun. It may not be as big as san andreas but it desures a 5.0 because its a fun game and because it has made free roaming. So all those other games like The Godfather and the True Crime games owe there free roaming to this game.

Is it just me or does GTA3 STINK A LOT. I know what you are thinking this guys nuts well dont you think running around and shooting people gets boring I do so thats final

I use to hate this game. Don't ask why. I just thought, what's so special about a guy who can run around a city, killin' guys? Been there, palyed that. But as time went on, I realized that I liked the game. The story was pretty cool, the action was often hilarious, & the driving wasn't all that bad. I wasted hours just running around, shooting people & picking up hoes. But hey, we've all done that.

Although its vastly improved than the previous 2 this game still has some kinks to work out. Even though it can be alot of fun, especially with the unlimited cheat codes the missisons can be boring at times and they are repeated alot throughout the game. Alot of fun to start out with but even when you bang a hooker (even though they just sit there in the car while it shakes) and run them over afterwards, it looses something when you do it a million times. Plus there is no bonus for the amount of money you accumilate and finding the hidden items is boring.

This game is an example of the shortcomings of the PS2. If this game was on the X-Box, it's graphics would've been improved, its environments larger and richer, and its glitches lessened. Since it's not-you should just shell out the thirty extra dollars an buy it and vice city on the X-Box.

Why? Because I said so! GTA3 has changed gaming as we know it. It will be imitaded for years to come. Rockstar got an offer you cant refuse.

With Vice City out and San Andreas on the Horizon, I still see Grand Theft Auto III as the best Playstation 2 game ever. It was the game that started the open-ended go anywhere be a bad guy type of game. The story is good but it's the gameplay that makes it the best of its kind. Stealing a car, killing people while being chased by the police never gets old. It makes my list of one of the best games of alltime. Graphics: 4.0 Good but they aren't great. There are times when they seem to get extra blurry but I have to say for the amount of gameplay the graphics are good for the amount of stuff going on at once. Sound: 5.0 Funny radio stations with great songs and the dialogue is acted out by the right people Controls: 5.0 Some people say that the targeting system is a little messed up but I find no problem with the targeting Fun Factor: 5.0 Best PS2 game nuf said

ok, this game may be so awesome for most of you, but for me, its just not that great. i mean, the weapons are fun to use on innocents, Liberty City is huge, stealing cars is funny, and running or killing cops never gets old. those are the only good qualities of GTA3. but if you love GTA, that's your choice. if you love pickin' up hoes (you stupid pervs), than killing them for money (poor women), you should get a life. you can't buy property, you don't have any fighting moves, you can't do anything fancy with your guns (like Bullet Time), and you can shoot in different directions in your car (like True Crime). you can only shoot sideways. oh, let me guess, that's so ghetto. only gangsters can do that. blah-blah- blah. you don't know anythings about drive-bys or hit'n'runs or.........what i'm trying to say is this GTA 3 shouldn't be #1. f*** GTA 3 and Vice City. go play another game, like Manhunt or Max Payne 2 or True Crime: Streets of LA or Devil May Cry or Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, or The Suffering or Red Dead Revolver or even The Simpsons: Hit and Run. they're all better than GTA 3 and Vice City
