Half life ps2

Pros Cons
Engaging story
Tight controls
Just plain fun

Half life is the first game in the half life series. Its the game that started it all. That introduced us to Gordon Freeman and the Black Mesa incident. Unfortunatley I missed out on this game back in 98 on pc as I didnt have a pc then. I played Half Life 2 first actually. But Half Life 2 encouraged me to get Half Life on ps2. Yes Half Life 2 was that good. Needless to say Half life 1 did not dissapoint me one bit. The games controls were excellent and Gordon moved very smoothly and stopped on a dime. The controls are very good and that some thing you dont see in games alot now. The sound was ok, not the greatest but it worked to make the game feel intense. The graphis are prettty good but not as flashy as half life 2 eye candy. Of course this is to be expected since the game was released in 98 and then again on the ps2 in 2001 I think. Plus the ps2 isnt known for pretty FPS except for maybe 2 or 3. The weapons models are good and the game has a nice variety of them. From earth based military weapons to alien and experimental top secret type weapons. They all sound as they should as well. There is a variety of enemies in the game. They are all cool looking in my opinion. Plus some platforming is involved and the occasional puzzle. But tjhe one thing Half life is famous for is its story, I cant forget the story. It is top notch. It would rival most hollywood sci fi movies. The game is worth playing just for the back story and getting to take part in some gaming history. You get to see what allowed the combine to get to earth. This game is highy reccomended to any Half Life 2 fan and FPS fan. Its cheap, only $10 when I bought it. I gave it to my nephew a while back but Im going to buy it again just to have it in my collection. Thats how good it is.

NOT BAD.......NOT BAD AT ALL

I'm totally hooked to this game. I don't know why. Soem people may not like it, but not me. The graphics & controls do need work, but all is forgiven the moment a creature pops out or one of your partners gets snagged up & devoured. This game can get bloody at times, but i say: 'the more, the merrier.' An instant classic for the PS2.

This game is brill full stop but it bugs me why they dont try and put half- life 2 on ps2 because they could just put it on the lowest graphics and they could converse it... great a new game for ps2

Fun, but won't run

This game is awesome. Thats all you need to know. Now if it just played. I can get up to about halfway through the game, but then it freezes. And I can't find another copy. Oh well. If you need a good PS2 FPS and can find this, buy it.

The turning point

Half Life is one of the greatist FPS's out there today. And it's no wonder once you actually pick it up and play it. The story revolves around you as Gorden Freemen, a scientist at the Black Mesa Research Facility. When an experiment goes wrong, aliens invade and it's up to our nerdy hero to save the day. One of the interesting things about Half Life is that there are 3 sides to the fight. So you will encounter battles between the aliens and marines every once in a while. The gameplay transitioned from the PC to the Playstation quite well. Everything that there is to do can be done with a minimum of frustration. The graphics are dated of course. All the characters are blocky and simple but I found that the textures where quite good. The AI is actually where the game shines. Games before this one just had enemies stand out in the open and fire. But here, marines and aliens act like they should. Marines run for cover and throw grenades. Aliens, well, just charge and attack. The level design is good too. All of the environments differ from one area to another. Which would seem to be a problem since it mostly takes place inside but they handled the challenge quite well. There are a few jumping scenarios that slow the game down a bit, but you can quick save wherever you like. And once you get past them the game picks up speed again. Along with the standard deathmatch multiplayer mode ther is now a co-op mode called decay. In fact, this mode is tougher than the regular one player mode since you cant quick save and puzzles require both players to complete them. Although the difficulty is steep at first, blasting aliens with a friend is good old fun. Half Life is one of those games that sticks in the memory of those who have played. (Probly because it's so frikkin long) If you've played this, you've probly already pre ordered Half-Life 2

Half-Life 1 and 2

Let's start with HALF-LIFE 1, Ok so this game is very cool. The controls are very good. But....When you move you run very fast and that get's annoying. Anyway this is one of my favorite games. This is how it starts: In the beggining Gordon Freeman (the person you are in the game) needs to get to an a room to do an experiment on something. But... Something went wrong. Now he is stuck in a place where the whole thing is infested with aliens or what ever the HELL the things are. That's all I kan tell you write know about this game lets get on to the Second Game: With Half-Life 2, there were only two questions: "Did you get into the tiny theater tosee the half-hour PC presentation?" and "Could you believe what you sawwhen you got in?" Valve Kept Half-Life's return a secret for four years, so when gamers finally got a glimpse, it was nearly complete (the game ships in just a few months) and thoroughly stunning. Scientist/action here Gordan Freeman has escaped the Black Mesa Research Facility and accepted a deal from the creepy G-Man at the end of Half-Life. Now he's in City 17, which is overrun by more interplanetary freakshows--some of which happens to be 30 feet tall, but others of which will fight by your side. HL2's heart is the Source engine, which enables incredibly detailed physics--you'll see object and enviroment interactions with more realism and logic than ever before, from the subtle behavior of floppy mattresses to using barrels as shields and crushing enemies under heavy containers. Plus, it all lokks freakin'n gorgeous--water distortion effects, breathtaking lightning, and downright eerie facial animations. Oh, and the game is headed to the XboX, too. Someone tell John Carmack that the bar is about to be raised.

No wonder it was rated one of the best FPS games of all time.

An amazing first person shooter that does seem to end. The plot is solid, the levels are interactive, the emenys are truely detailed in their own way, and the weapons are mindblowing. On my top ten list it would be in the top five.

Great co-op

This is a great game.Nice 2-player co-op.The really thing that I didn't like is when you beat da game you don't unlock anything. It is better than Red Faction.
