More off road madness

Smugglers Run has good graphics and is fun and has about a moderate difficulty. You have a small assortment of vehicles that all have different stats. In the single player you have to pick up and drop off packages, participate in races or be on a team and get more pickups then the other team.In multiplayer there are basically the same games. There are team games and a mode where it is a free for all to see which team (or person) can get the four packages in the team game (one package in free for all). The game ends when the target amount of points is reached or time runs out (which is pretty rare). The computers on your team and the enemy team in the team coop games are pretty good.Your people will chase an enemy or rush to your base and drop off a package.Although there is one difference here then in most off road racers. You take damage. If your damage meter gets full your engine stalls and you must wait for it to restart.Fortunately though your damage does repair automatically. There are also a lot of levels as well. There are Forest,Desert and Snow.In the multiplayer games each level has 4 different areas to play in.So anybody that likes off road racers should enjoy smugglers run.

Another Original Game from Rockstar!

In the long list of PlayStation 2 games to arrive at launch (27 in all), few titles are original and startling. Perhaps that's because the first PlayStation created such a legacy that every publisher that performed well wanted to repeat its success with the same games on PS2. Rockstar had success on PS, but it took the effort to create something new on PS2 with Smuggler's Run. Taking advantage of several of the PS2's new technical features, developer Angel Studios, known for games such as Midtown Madness (PC) and Ken Griffey, Jr. Baseball (N64), has created a racing-action game that enables one to two players to feel and see something brand new phenomenally huge landscapes that can be reached no matter how far the distance, smart team AI, and an extravagant physics engine that makes for some extremely fun off-road racing.

No Lowrider...

Smuggler's Run makes an attempt on putting fun in delivering contraband across borders. The game takes place in three borders of the U.S. (U.S. - Canada x2, Mexico). Gangs are hired to do jobs that earn you money (which are used as points, and only points. No customizations). You are a member of The Forgotten, and your rivals are The O' Grady's, Sierra Cartel, A20, and Quebecois. There are a large number of "jobs" for you to execute, and to keep up the action. The maps of the game are massive, and free-roaming. You also have the choice of 6 vehicles, but start out with two in the story mode. Graphics (4.0) - The terrain is beautifully crafted and is a large part of the game, but the vehicle's detail is dull and could have used more attention during production. Sound (3.0) - Sounds include annoying sirens, annoying voices, dull music, but good engines. This drags the game down far. Control (3.5) - In the options, you have a choice of prebuilt controls for your vehicle. However, the controls are weak none the less when driving. Sometimes the vehicle turns, and sometimes not... Gameplay (5.0) - Missions are in abundance and keep up the pace. There are also 2 other modes of play, including a free-riding through a level of your choice, and also an instant action game that puts you directly in a job... This is the only factor that saves this game.

Addictive at first, but easily can kick the habit

This is a fun game for awhile but will bore you. The land is huge though so you can just drive forever. I haven't played a game as good as this, where you have to get the "CONTROBAND" from other vehicles. I would rent it

This game is ok...

Smuggler's Run wasnt really all I thought it would be. Many of the vehicles have horrible control and the game is a bit lacking in a few other departments. The only real thing that saves this game are the decent graphics...

offroad champion?

Smuggler's Run is, compared to all games in every genre, mediocre. However, for what is available in offroad games this is a truly great experience worthy of a purchase.
