Xbox 360

Xbox 360 - Xbox 360

Pros Cons
Loads of content Doesn't live up to expectations
  It's boooring
  Terrible multiplayer
Fanboys stay away if you cant handle the truth

Elite! when this word comes to mind i think of best of the best, top dog, greatest, untouchable, and best in the business. Ironically, this is not the case at all with the xbox 360 elite. I mean from the moment i opened this console i compared it to my other 360 and tried to figure what the major differences were and this is what i came up with: bigger hard drive, an hdmi port, an included hdmi cable, and a black color on the console and all its included accessories. Now, if you have a 360 this is not worth the money. However, if you really want a 360 and no other console than get this. But, i do not encourage it. Simply because when i bought this i expected it to have some of the included features that the ps3 has: Built in wifi, blueray, and it is also very compatible with 3rd party products; the elite is not. I was very disappointed and if you had a choice between this and wii or ps3, i would suggest you get a ps3 or wii. Not to mention that i also expected this console to be the one not to get the RROD(Red Ring of Death). This console was advertised to have a "Jasper Chip" which the old consoles did not have. This Jasper Chip is supposed to decrease the chance of your 360 overheating and eventually breaking on you. However, that was not the case with me. I am very upset and i have decided to sell all my 360 games and accessories; I'm tired of paying for repairs. I bought a sony ps3 in April 2007 and it is still running great, not to mention the free online and great games. For those looking for real advise you have seen this review, for those wanting to troll around and defend this console like a family member stop being foolish and let others express their opinions and experiences.

I have been a gamer for the past 15 or so years, and I have always favoured games over platforms. I would therefore NOT categorize myself as one of those "Fanboys".
You talk about "handling the truth" so let's run through some home truth.
Firstly, your comment about expecting the elite to have all that the PS3 has is foolish. Surely, you must have read about the Elite before dishing out the enormous amount of money Microsoft expected us to pay when it was released, if you had, you would have known that the Elite doesn't have built in WiFi and does not play Blu-Ray. Your comment about "third party" products is also very wrong, at the time the Elite came out, Microsoft's Xbox 360 had a swarm of third party products for it being the second best selling console on the market (Wii being first at the time). Also, it is worth mentioning that the Elite was the first Xbox to be released with an HDMI port and a larger HDD, older models relied on the component cable and a smaller HDD. Also, it is worth mentioning that the Elite was the first Xbox to be produced with a new chipset "Zephyr" replacing the old "Xenon" chipset and later in 2007, the Elite "Zephyr" was quickly replaced by another chip, the "Falcon". For your information, these new 65nm chips meant less power consumption and a reduction in the infamous RROD failure. And you might want to take note that the "Jasper" chip, the latest and better chip, was not fitted on Xbox 360 until late 2008, in fact, the first 360 to take full advantage of that new chip was the limited edition Resident Evil console (the red one).
By the way, I own a PS3, 360 and Wii (without mentioning my older consoles..), I am not defending the 360 over the PS3 (or the Wii for that matter) but I am making sure you understand how wrong your "opinions and experiences" are.
I am sorry you feel that way about a particular console, nowadays, it is sad that people like you spoil other people's experiences.

The guy that wrote the above review clearly didn't do his homework and I personally thought someone should step in and restore some truth.
I am sorry my comment was long but before posting a reply, a read through would have been appreciated.
Maybe I should try to be clearer, I enjoy all games, regardless of their platforms. There is no need for name calling here, at the end of the day, we're all adults aren't we?

I am not a Fanboy, I own both systems, including Wii, but if you want the Hard Truth......

Bluray Player- PS3 Yes -- Xbox 360 No

Blutooth - PS3 Yes -- Xbox 360 No

Upgradable And Removable HDD, with the ability to buy whatever Model and Make you want -- PS3 Yes -- Xbox 360 No (Microsoft forces you to buy THEIR Overpriced HDD)

Fast Internet Browser - PS3 Yes -- Xbox 360 No

The ability to use any Headset, Keyboard, and Mouse you want - PS3 Yes -- Xbox 360 No (Again, Microsoft forces you to buy THEIR overpriced headsets, or cheap knockoffs, and the 360 has no support for Mouse/Keyboard)

Free and Stable Internet Play - PS3 Yes -- Xbox 360 No

Complete Backwards Compatibility with all PS1 Games - PS3 Yes -- Xbox 360 No (Microsoft has a half a$$ed selection, about 100 games or so)

PS3 also has "Home", an awesome Open Word second life kind of place where hundreds of thousands of players can go and play games and meet up. It also has WWAAAAYYYY more features in the options and customizable features then the 360 Wishes it has. Not to mention the ability to install your own Operating System, and the fact that they give away High Quality Wallpapers and Themes and Pics that Microsoft would charge you for. And Over 50 Exclusives that average higher ratings and reviews than Microsoft's exclusives...

Now, the 360 certainly has some things the PS3 doesn't, most notably, the ability for universal Chat, Netflix, and......that's really it.

The bottom line is that the PS3 has all those features for $299, and the 360 has none of them for the same price. Now, I love my Gears of War and Mass Effect, but the 360 is way over-priced. OR, the PS3 is way under-priced. Either way, the PS3 is the better deal. Without Question. But, the pathetic fanboys who purposely limit themselves to only one system because of a Juvenile Bias, will try and tell you differently. But, the numbers speak for themselves.

Ok, the first sight of fanboyism is ignorant my friend. So Basically, regardless of whether you love games or platforms, and regardless of whether you own one or all platforms. The second you start saying things like the following you became a fanboy:

1. start using the manufacturer name: Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo
2. You start writing the history of the platform production: processors
3. you start to say I own all three, I am not a fanboy, or I love games: frankly if you said any of these you are a huge fanboy and to be precise a Microsoft fanboy.
4. once you start criticizing someone's opinion, even though it is just his opinion and saying "it is sad that people like you spoil other people's experiences."
5. whenever someone says that fanboys should not reply and you feel so angry because you are a fan boy and now you dont wanna look like one, you start saying things like: "I would therefore NOT categorize myself as one of those "Fanboys"."

Just in case you were wondering, I am a fanboy, but not a Sony one. A Microsoft one, but I didn't comment or criticize because the reviewer is stating his opinion only. and he is free to speak his mind, it doesn't represent all elite owners view. It is just his view and I am not going to argue with it.

But just for the record, he hit valid points.

wylthenemesis

Just for the record, the point the reviewer made were mostly wrong. As a Microsoft "Fanboy", you, at the very least, should know that. Who goes out and buys an expensive console without knowing anything about it? Everybody knew the Elite would not play Blu-Ray, everybody knew the Elite does not have the WiFi built in. These are the reasons people, myself included, went out to buy a PS3.
There are people who do not own either consoles and are still undecided as to which console to choose. These people will be looking for people's opinions or friend's opinion as to which one to get (in addition to the feature they require). So I find it quite offensive and childish to have people like the reviewer bashing a console they have never tried (or yourself for interfering).
Before speaking your mind, maybe you should take a moment to think about the influence your so called opinion might have.
