GP why not also review the Wii version cause its actually different insted of posting 2 reviews of the exact same game
Well this is my first review and I'm gonna try to sound as professional as possible.
To start of my review I'll mention a few things about the series, It started as a simple project to compete with Nintendo's mascot Mario that turned into his all-time rival and became a gaming Icon of its own the IT came: 3D.
After Mario made a successful and flawless transition Sonic made a rough around the edges yet successful transition. After that his good games have been buried in bad elements like gimmicks (Teams in Sonic Heroes, Guns in Shadow the Hedgehog) large and numerous glitches (Sonic '06) bad controls (Sonic and the Secret Rings) and somewhat annoying camera (all of the above). So this time they decided to combine the good elements of their games (Adventure, Secret Rings, and Rush) and made a more than successful 3D game.
And then, when all was thought fine and dandy, IT was Unleashed: the Werehog. Now I know most people say "this game is 1 half awesome and speedy game and 1 half bad gimmick" but my opinion differs a bit, its 50% awesome and speedy game 25% good, yet repetitive, hack n' slash 25% awful platforming. Don't get me wrong, I slightly enjoyed Night stages but I don't wanna see them in another Sonic game, although I wouldn't mind seeing it as a stand alone non-Sonic game with the same, but enhanced, gameplay mechanic (add weapons, more combos, and NO PLATFORMING).
As for Day time stages their almost perfect, I think there is too much 2.5D and not enough 3D which i think is more enjoyable than, dare I say, the classic sonic games. The controls work awesomely good in both fronts (Buttons and Motion) but I personally prefer motion cause it makes werehog combat less repetitive. The game is a little short but there are tons of unlockables enough to keep you busy for a while. I recommend it for everyone and I believe Sonic fans should be happy that Sonic is on the road to recovery and considering how good the Day stages where I believe the road will be short.
Other facts:
Graphics-Awesome for Wii, its comparable to the other versions aside from the framerate and the cutscenes are just plain beautiful
Story-Average and unnecessary.Although many people say that that it doesn't add anything to the game they fail to mention it doesn't subtract anything from the game eather
Sound-Although those hard rock themes will be missed (Please bring back Crush 40!) SEGA decided to make an original soundtrack which is chuck-full of memorable themes and instant classics. The orchestrated World Adventure theme has potential to be the main theme for the Sonic series just like the world famous theme that Mario has had for years (and could have a badass hard rock remix courtesy of Crush 40). And voice acting is a cut above the other games but there is still room for improvement.
