Shaun White Snowboarding

Shaun White Snowboarding - Xbox 360

Pros Cons
Amazing visuals Doesn't live up to expectations
Awesome audio It's boooring
  Repetitive gameplay
  Unresponsive controls
Sadly Unfun

As an SSX 3 fan I was excited about the chance to choose my own path down the mountain again and pull off huge tricks in Shaun White. Instead, I found out this game sees one flip (maybe two on a huge jump) with a single grab to be an accomplishment. It is more based in reality, which is boring to some as I don't care how a real snowboarder rides, I just want to have fun with crazy tricks and a fast, exciting mountain to ride. The tracks are set up well, but it feels like you are turning a small bus to try and make the tricks you want. Character customization is also under par with few options and most of them just color changes. Also if you've read other reviews you know about the coin collecting, yes its there, it is annoying, and steals away what little fun was left. You find yourself watching the radar just like GTA and not enjoying the ride, you just want to reach the destination. After an hour of searching for these you will notice you are not playing a fun sports title, you are dragging your snowboard at a slow pace while searching for stupid coins. As if there were a further insult possible, the missions almost demand your friends list owns the game as well for some missions to even run, and the single player missions are flawed by horrible turn physics and poor tricks. I don't intend to waste over 8 hours to reach the "ridiculous tricks" in the late game that some reviews complain about, cause this game is not worth my or your time. Sorry for the candor.

I agree with this. The fact that you need to due most events on multi-player is lame. Also trying to get all of those darn coins is like pulling teeth. I recommend renting it first.

I agree, nice review. This game turned out terribly when I rented it last December, and I've noticed it in bargain bins lately. AVOID. I spend between 1-1.5 hours just collecting coins because that is the point of the game. You don't just move on to new courses by doing events, you collect coins or you don't progress. So after that hour of coin collecting with bad turn physics and no quick way to move up the mountain (you have to go all the way to a skilift), I returned it and couldn't be happier.
