A Massively Overhyped Game

Don't get me wrong, I liked Mass Effect. I liked it so much that I played it more than twice. At the same time though, it did not live up to all the hype it received. I was so disappointed by the exploration aspect that I felt like suing BioWare for lying to consumers. The game is nothing like they would have you believe. Compared to KOTOR this game is not good at all. It's rpg/fps mish mash that for me did not work. I liked it for what it was but I was expecting way more. The dialogue is good but if I wanted to have a good dialogue I'd rather talk to a real person. The game has very little depth, you feel like you're just running around doing things as an errand boy for the Citadel Council. The side missions have almost no effect on the universe. And exploration means going around in your mako to different plants and shooting down outposts and discovering useless minerals. You can't even land in all the planets they have on the map! Anyway, I won't play the sequel, but it's a good game that did not live up to my expecatations.

You're a little extreme, just because it didn't live up to the hype, and you're expectations does not mean it is a bad game. I would also disagree that its "not good at all" in comparison to Kotor 2. I would most likely play a sequel, and believe you are unrealistic when saying you would not play a sequel. To me, you are being far too harsh and unforgiving over your own expectations.

Hey for a fps-rpg this is about as good as it gets. That says something.
I just hope the sequal has less driving, that part got kinda old& a higher frame rate so busy battles play better. Id say its like a 9 of 10 if you compare it to what else is out as far as real time RPGs go.

This review is almost exactly like mine, except I gave it a 4. I agree with the points you made.

What a confusing review. How do you bash and praise a game all at once? You seemed so dissapointed with the game and most of its more important elements, yet you still played it more than twice. Most people dont' get through a game even once if they were that dissapointed it in it.

this isnt a fps rgp. this is third person

three stars is harsh for this game. It was absolutely without a doubt one of the BEST games I played last year. I've played through it SEVERAL times, in fact I'm currently on another play through with it now.
