Mario and Luigi Superstar saga is a fabulous Gameboy Advance game, and is one of my favorites. The two Italian siblings have traded their platforming adventures for turn based pandemonium, and boy does it work out well. The game gives you your typical 'save the princess' motive pretty early on, but then, you'll soon realize that the game's story is a little more deep than that. As an RPG, you'll control Mario and Luigi and touch visible enemies in the over world to commence battles. The battles are incredibly fun, and some of them, usually boss fights, take some strategy to succeed. The graphics are very colorful and detailed for a Game boy Advance tile, and ease you into the world, by showing different battle animations of characters, and funny little actions during cutscenes. In battle, you select a list of commands which include jumping on enemies, throwing and using items, and using cool quick time special attacks called Bros. attacks. The add a lot of variety to the battles, and can do devastating damage (that is IF you don't mess them up). You can also equip your two plumbers with badges, and overalls, which boost your stats and abilities, whereas leveling up raises your stats permanently. Exploring the overworld is fun, as you can jump around stomping on things, and using unique, and sometimes crazy tag team abilities to get to new areas, or solve puzzles. The dialogue and humor go hand in hand in this game, and are both very well done. The game lasts from 20 to 30 hours, and is a blast all the way. You'll play mini games, meet characters, and be introduced to gameplay mechanics as you move along. Titles on hand held systems don't get any better than this, and so I give this game my highest recommendation.
