Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow

Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow - PSP

Pros Cons
Amazing visuals Braindead computer AI
Intense action
Addictive gameplay
Tight controls
Fantastic multiplayer
Great portable shooting action

Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow is the sequel to the other PSP gem, Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror. The main focal point of both titles is how great the controls are on the PSP. They are very tight, especially with the lack of a second analog stick. Both games have great stories, and so you won't just be mindlessly shooting people. But just in case you do like mindlessly shooting people, this game also has a lot of that. As an operative in the game, you'll infiltrate many areas and use a wide array of weapons, and cool gadgets to see your way through. The cool thing about the game is the fact that you can tackle missions in either a stealthy manner, or go into situations guns blazing, and I find that this game's inclusion of both is very impressive. Speaking of very impressive, the game features very good graphics for a PSP title, with realistic weapons, and characters, and some pretty good lighting effects. The story mode should last you about 6-8 hours with many twists and turns, but there are also unlockable bonus missions, harder difficulties, and the issue of collecting ranks. There is also an online multiplayer component to the game which is pretty solid from my experience. The game has a lot of polish, and I feel is an all around definitive title to have on the PSP. The audio is good as well, and there are also CG cutscenes dispersed into the game. Syphon Filter is a very sweet deal, since it comes with a lot packaged into the small UMD.It is one hand held title you'll have trouble putting down.
