Welcome to Unreal Tournament 3, where you can blow stuff up. UT comes back, and this time, it brings a SP along the old school favorite MP, and not only for the PC, but for the PS-3 as well. There is nothing new besides the SP in UT3, this is not bad considering UT always been the best MP fast paced FPS for ages, but its still sad that there not much new stuff. However, the graphics ARE new, the maps ARE (kinda) new, and there ARE some new weapons and new vehicles (not much thou), and a few new mods (like the Warfare).
------------------------------------------
The new single player addition may looks promising as the first movie starts to play on the screen, but as soon as you start to play the game you realize this is not really a single player game, but more of a simple bot games and not much more then that. The game is divided into 5 chapters, in each chapters there are many missions that you are required to complete to move on. The story moves on throng in-game engine movie scene that you'll see at the start (and sometimes end) of the chapter, while when you play and select mission, you will get some kind of a briefing that doesn't have to much to do with the main story. Basically, your on a vengeance mission, trying to kill an alien women that invaded the colony which 'Reaper' and his team tried to defend. Basically the voice acting is not bad, but the story is very boring and confusing (beacuse there are a lot of factions/races), so done expect for anything but just a pretty scene.
------------------------------------------
The SP itself isn't really initiative. You pretty much play in the MP maps, only with bots instead of real people. Thats it pretty much. There are some changes in few maps to spice things up, but they are still very similar to simply just playing with bots. You can also get cards that gives you special perverseness such as more HP or less enemies (you can use them once). There are many missions however, sometimes you can also chose which missions to do and in what order, and the SP itself is quite long. Its just that, well, you should simply focus on the MP mode.
------------------------------------------
So aside from the SP, and the bots option, there is the MP, which UT3 is all about. This time you can make and customize your own avatar instead of choosing a pre-made one, which is nice. There are also plenty of maps (both old and new), plenty of old school mods and new mods like the Warfare, and plenty of fun. There is nothing like UT3 right now when it comes to faced phased gameplay, the weapons, the maps, everything is just right. On top of that, there is a modding option on the PS3, so you can download stuff on your PC like new maps, weapons, (etc.) and install them on the PS3.
------------------------------------------
The graphics are awesome, its needles to say, UT3 runs smooth most of the time, and looks good all the time with many great different maps and sharp models for the players. The sound is also good, there is no much music in the game but its not needed with all those explosions going on, and the sound effects are good. The voice acting is pretty "ok" in the SP, but its very annoying when you play with bots the likes to shout random stupid things like "I cant feel my legs". After some time, it would start to annoy you.
------------------------------------------
Overall, its a must have for every UT fan, and every PS owner that looks for a good FPS game. Its the only one of its kind on the PS-3, its not the best overall, but its one of them. Ill meet you online.
