Jeanne D'Arc

Jeanne D'Arc - PSP

Pros Cons
Engaging story
Loads of content
Epic boss fights
Addictive gameplay
Another great SRPG

As any fan of tactical RPG's knows, the action is carried out on a grid overlapping the terrain and characters move square-by-square, taking advantage of geographical features to provide cover and elevation to improve defense and offense. As far as that goes, D'Arc is pretty cut-and-dried, but there's a few tweaks that really smooth out the gameplay experience.

In my opinion, what really makes this game a gem is the storyline. Despite the fantasy trappings, it isn't just a fairy tale with everyone living happily ever after. Yes, there's death involved here, and it's not always to who deserves it (I'm striving mightily to avoid spoilers here!) It gives the story a dark aspect, and adds a poignancy that impacts the emotion involved. And history buffs might be surprised at how closely the adventure echoes the life of the real Joan of Arc - demons and monsters non-withstanding, anyway!

The wrap-up? Minimal complaints, and lots to enjoy. This is a VERY solid title for the PSP, and an amazing adventure awaits the player.
