Super Mario Sunshine

Super Mario Sunshine - GameCube

Pros Cons
Awesome audio Poor storytelling
Addictive gameplay Lousy camera/viewpoint
Tight controls
Innovative concepts
Let the sunshine in, but don't expect too much.

As with any Mario game, you know what to expect and understand that it will be at least a good game and a must own on that system. This game is no different.
Story- Mario, Peach, and Bowser. You know what to do. In actuality, the story is pretty bland and something that you don't really care for. You collect stars...err..."Sun Sprites" in order to proceed with the game. The new locale and characters are a nice touch from the beaten path that is Mario games, but don't expect anything beyond that.
Gameplay- The juiciest part of the game. The gameplay is fun and a bit innovative. The introduction of F.L.U.D.D. and its various nozzles adds a lot to the game. From a Super Soaker to a jetpack, there are plenty of added gameplay moves to be gained. Combat is rather bland, but its not the focus. All you have to do is soak everything that moves, and jump on them in necessary. But the platforming is where the game shines. With and without F.L.U.D.D., the games wanting of you to explore and experiment is its best ability. And there are plenty of secrets and extras to keep you satisfied.
Audio/Visual- No surprises here. Audio is great, and you will undoubtedly hum along with the familiar tunes. As for graphics, they aren't stunning, but they appeal to the design. Water effects are rather nice, and colors are vibrant and easy on the eyes. But the details are somewhat bland.
In conclusion-A definite buy for anyone who owns a Gamecube or a Wii and enjoys platforming. While there have been bad things said about this game, it's rather enjoyable to anyone who has a liking for platforming games or Mario in general. And nowadays, its price being no more than $15, its a great purchase. Though its uninspired story and combat leave players wanting more, they can be overlooked in this instance.
