Robots Meet Tactics and Customization.
Before I begin my review I want to start by saying that this game has little to offer in the category of single player campaign. I would not purchase this game unless you have an XBL membership.
Single Player-weak
As I said before this game was not created to entertain the lonely gamer. It was meant and created for XBL members. You are a mercenary hired for war and you must complete missions in categories based upon Role Types such as Commander, Heavy Gunner, Scout, Sniper, Soldier, and Defender. You are at will to create your hound from a limited supply of parts (gain parts based upon mission completion) or to borrow an already prepared hound. The single player is entertaining but after you complete it, you probably wont play it again.
Xbox Live Multiplayer-strong
This is the greatest part of the game and keeps me entertained still. You can either join or create a squad and pledge your allegiance to one of three countries. (can change between wars) The amount of parts is virtually endless and each country has its own unique of weapons, cockpits, chassis, shields, etc. You can work with your squad and strategize to defeat your opponents. You can create a Sniper, Soldier, Commander, Defender, Heavy Gunner, or a Scout from hundreds of parts. The customization takes skill and time to master. This is the gold of this game because I have spent more time creating hounds than I have actually playing matches.
Gameplay-decent
The Gameplay is decent enough. You have several ways to win a match, the most common is to destroy your opponents. You have to enter the guncam mode (pressing the Left Stick) to see through the crosshairs, or you can see them on the top right corner of the screen. The only flaw in this category that I can think of is how when you destroy a hound, they seem to stop moving for a second and then spontaneously explode. Playing with a squad makes all the difference seeing as you can strategize, utilizing your different roletypes to exploit and destroy your opponents.
Basic Review
If you have XBL and enjoy Mech games, then I would at least rent this game. It gives you unlimited options to customize your hound. You can create a well armored soldier, or a quick, yet poweful sniper. This game recieves 4 Stars from me.
