Prepare for a tan.
Boktai: The Sun is in Your Hand, puts you in the shoes of Solar Boy Django as he attempts to avenge his father's death and save the land of Istrakan from the undead (vampires, ghouls and et cetera). He does this with the help of a sun sprite named Otenko, who serves as a miniature guide/narrator throughout the story. The game itself has noticeable influences from Hideo Kojima and contains many aspects of stealth game play. The beauty of Boktai is that you don't have to skulk around every corner; you can have fun with the game no matter what your playing style is (for instance, on my first run through, the Konami website gave me a "Berserker" rating because I got a bit too carried away frying the bejesus out of the Mummies...teach them to hear my footsteps. Don't get me wrong, the game has a good amount of necessary puzzle-solving, and is quite fun when utilizing the stealth elements...but there's something so alluring about blowing everything up). There's also a good deal of customizability, as you receive a variety of weapons and items, some of which can be combined later on for some very rewarding products. Another part of the game that grabbed me by my solar batteries was the sensor that Mr. Kojima razzed up, as it detects the amount of sunlight present and is essential for winning boss-battles, at least on the first time through (because its replay-value is high, as more items are unlocked with each run). If you like it enough, you'll find yourself mentally scarring the neighborhood kids as you stretch out on a lawn chair with a pair of fluffy slippers and an old bathrobe (no comment) in a frantic attempt to get those few hours of sunlight to reach the sensor. The music and effects are great, the graphics flow like few other games, and in short, Boktai would be a good call to invest your time in.
