Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure - PS2

This reviewer knows not what he speaks, or is out of touch with graf life..

When this reviewer compared this game to Jet Set Radio he lost all credibility. Jet Set Radio was a great game but it was an abomination and a disgrace to the art of writing. Slamming this game on the damage is also a tacky low blow, the low damage leads to accessibility so novice gamers, say those interested in the cultures this draws from (Hip Hop, Urban, Skating) would be able to hop in and revel in the thrill of scaling towers, repelling down buildings and dodging trains to bomb a hot site. Mark Ecko's getting up is a triumph, a true homage to the art of writing. This reviewer doesn't know much about its history, because all of Trane's adventures tie into the adventures of true writers of the day and the obstacles and chances they took to make their marks seen. I am disappointed that Gamepro chose rather trivial matter to slash this review on. The controls work excellently, and once you learn the combos and fight mechanics is a real thrill, as are all the death defying jumps Trane must take to hit certain spots. The Freeway stage in particular provides the opportunity to scale to an insane height and look down at the interlocked freeways and traffic zooming by. The climb and thrill I received from this moment and others were great. The graphics glitch about the train is also a pathetic thing to lambaste, and it sounds like the reviewer had difficulty playing, possibly due to lack of skills, and focused on something as trivial as the lack of a cracked window on a train. Please, that is so trivial it is pathetic. All of the boss fights were a real treat, and a fun challenge, all the jumps exciting and some of them jaw dropping. This game should be praised. What it does it does well: Celebrate the risks, and art of writing. One of the most authentic featured in a game, and the next person that compares Getting Up with the (good) but blasphemous game Jet Set Radio are obviously too old or not knowledgeable about the history.
