Bad Camera angles and good fun.
Until Onimusha came along, the awkward camera angle kings were the Resident Evil and Silent Hill series. But Onimush grabbed the lighter audience who would rather have a bit more adventure in their game. And now that game has a sequal that continues this tradition. Now in this, rather shinier sequal, you play as Jubei Yagyu. A samurai warrior who is now off for revenge when he returns home to see his town massacred. But as he tries to hunt these savages down, he is swept away in a river of the same demon goo that our previous hero was thrown into in the original. Helping him along are four-sub characters who respond to you in different ways depending on the gifts you bring back from your adventures. There is a portly spearman, an oh so serious rifleman, a sly ninja, and the lovely female warrior, which every Onimush game thus far has had. Giving them an item that suites their fancy will result in a gift in return or a slightly different path through the game. The gift giving also alows you to give them new weapons, which will come in handy later when you get to play your favored character later in the game. But with this major addition, fans of the original will be happy to know that all of the things that worked in the original are still here. Defeating enemies and then sucking up their souls allows you to regenerate health, magic, and also allows you to update the weapons you obtain with your orbs. The voice acting has improved, as have the graphics. Alot of the environments you visit are stunning. And you'll also revisit areas from the first game, which is a nice touch of the nostalga. Camera angles can be frustrating at times. Especially when it suddenly swithces during a heated boss battle. Prepare to stock up on health items to survive the end. With the new additions of multiple paths through the story and a fun minigame thrown in, the game has great replay value, which can become a problem with games of this sort. This game is definately an honarble addition.
