ESPN X Games Skateboarding

ESPN X Games Skateboarding - PS2

One Order of X Games, but Hold the Good Stuff

"OKay, so that'll be 50 bucks, please." Please is right. X Games Skateboarding is probably one of ESPN's biggest mistakes. After months of endorsement, this one ended up being a real, real, well you know. The demo displayed excellent graphics with good gameplay, but the final cut seemed to have cut all the good stuff. The graphics are some of the worst in PS2's realatively short history; with choppy surroundings, jagged edges, and-despite the nice animation-has no trick-linking animation. The sound is the only strong point, with beats from SUM 41 and others accessed with the click of a button. In a pathetic attempt to have a different control scheme from Tony, XGS has just forty "uniqe" tricks and every one's special is the same. If you are in serious need of a good skateboarding game, well, you're scru-ed until Tony 3 arrives. G R A P H I C S - 2.0 After all the hard work put into getting good animations, the developers forgot to link the tricks, add that with severe jaggedness. S O U N D - 4.0 A good quality. That's rare for this game. You can access songs with the click of a button! But the repetitive skate sounds often annoy. C O N T R O L - 3.5 They tried not to entirely match Tony's scheme. And in the process, they made it ALOT worse. F U N F A C T O R - 2.5 This game is about as fun as golf, except its more boring. With fanciful levels and stupid objectives, who can go right?
