Great end to the current gen MK, bring on the next gen baby!
Well, this is it; the last MK game for the current generation consoles. MK8 will only be released on 360, PS3, and Wii, so they needed to go out with a bang. I think they did, but this could've been better. I'll divide the game into seperate sections of play options in the game. Arcade, 2-Player, and Online: This game has a lot of characters to play as! 64 in all! That's many choices to play as. You can choose any of your old favorites, as all characters throughout all MK games(except some non-important characters) are playable, and most are unlocked at the start. While this may seem like a good thing, it's actually kind of bittersweet. Sure, it's great having 60 characters unlocked from the start, leaving you only 4 to unlock, but I kind of wished they would've only have unlocked around 20-30 characters from the start, you had around half the total amount of characters to unlock. The replay value of this game is diminshed alot by this. Still, the gameplay is very good, much better than Deception, and I actually like having two styles more than three. Still, some characters are unbalanced, but not unbeatable either. 2-Player gives you much more replay value, as you can have almost endless fun playing fights with your friends. Also, another downside is the Arcade endings; they really suck overall. i'm not going to spoil any, but most are horrid, but bearable. Online is another place where this game shines other than gameplay, you can spend months playing this online, since they'res so many characters. Konquest: Konquest is very fun in this game, although it's a button masher at times. You play the role of Taven, a half god, son of Argus. You awaken in some rock tomb awoken by some dragon. He says you must beat your brother Daegon, and stop Armageddeon. This game is actually much more fun than i thought. They give you many ways to kill people, like on ice spikes and unto grinders. You will also fight many people on your journey, which you fight in like Arcade Mode. This game also has a lot of replay value because of the 60 trophies you can collect, which help you unlock secrets. The only real problem with this is that it's short. Motor Kombat: This is kind of a dumb mini-game, but it can give you some fun. Still, this game is really fun online. KAK: On MKA you can kreate your own character! This has the most replay value out of anything else in the game IMO, as you can think of infinite character ideas. Make Sephiroth, Cloud, Mario, Power Rangers, whatever suits your fancy. You can also make storylines for them, and customize their movesets. Graphics: This game is starting to look dated in this department. The game looks good, but could've used some tuning in the graphics department. Overall, this is a great end to the current gen MK, and will keep you busy for qutie some time. Still, MK8 in 2008 will kick major butt! Bring on the next gen MK baby!
