Def Jam takes over New York!
I'm serious when I say that Def Jam: Fight for NY is one of the best fighting games ever. The addictive, open-ended gameplay gives players a lot to have fun with. Fans of Def Jam's first installment will love Fight for NY, as it expands on the street style that the first game and stays true to what the first game presented. Story mode is nothing less than a thrill, as you guide your created fighter through the streets. You are picked up by a gang and help them fight of a rival gang. The game is full of rappers like Fat Joe and Snoop Dogg, so if you listen to rap and hip-hop, you should be familiar with the characters. As you get more points for every fight, you can upgrade your skills, buy new finishing moves, or unlock new venues to fight at. The venues, or arenas, in this game are creative and detailed. The crowd can sometimes be a defining factor in your matches, as they can give you or your competitor weapons. Weapons are a very effective itcomes to having to KO the opposing fighter. Two player is by far the most fun feature. There's nothing like kicking ass with your friend, or kicking your friend's ass. Subway match is a very enjoyable two player match, as it requires you to throw your enemy on the subway tracks, where he is then made into a pancake by the speeding death train. Overall, this game is so good, I just had to give it a perfect score. The addictive matches and smooth gameplay mak this game out to be one of the best fighting games of it's time. not to mention the best fighting game on the market. The plethora of characters and venues also give the player lot's of flexibity and freedom, which is vital in a great game. Def Jam: Fight for NY is the real deal.
