The Payne is back!
When I first heard about Max Payne 2 coming out all I could think was it is about time. I have been waiting for months for the second installment to come out for this saga that is Payne. First of all I would like to say that I got this game for the Xbox so that is what I will be refering to. Max Payne 2 takes place a few years after the first one had left off it has our hero Max Payne back on the force and leading a pretty good life considering his past. But as they say the past always has a way of coming back and biting you in the @$$. When the game first starts out it has you waking up in the hospital after you have been shot a few times. When you first start to move around everything is in sort of a dream state like in the first installment. As you walk around and try to figure out what you have to do you will notice that the physics in the game have changed dramaticaly and now it seems like anything will be sent flying just by walking into it. As the game starts to progress you will begin to meet the new characters for instance there is Mona Sax Max's new fling. You will soon learn that in a life like Max's nothing is as it seems. Thats enough of the story I don't want to ruin it for anybody and as I say this with a smile that brings me to my first problem with the game. The length is just pathetic you could easily finish this game in 1 sitting 2 at the max and that on the Hard Boiled difficulty and quit frankly the game doesn't answer any questions it just brings up more. While the game length may suck you still get a lot of bang for your buck. The graphics in this game are what you would expect the city is portrayed as this bleak no hope dump and that is exactly how it makes you fell. The bullet time that was made so famous by the original is back but this time it has a little twist that coincides with it. They call it the adrenaline factor meaning the more enemys or volatile the situation is the slower time will go. As I said earilier the physics of the game are kind of outrageous in this game you thow a grenade at somebody and they fly about ten feet in the air and twenty feet backwards. Control in this game is about the same as in the first one with a couple of new commands that will take no time getting the hang of. Aiming can be a pain at times but not too often. Sound is equally impressive as the look of the game the music the voice acting bullets sound effects it all sound very close to perfect. The voices draw you in while the backround music makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up.
