Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee

Munch looks just like my grandad... wait a minute...

When Oddworld first hit the shelves all those years ago, one couldnt help but be impressed. In a world where video games were turning 3D, Abe's Oddysee refused to jump on the bandwagon, and yet it was still one of (if not) the most graphically pleasing game of it's time. Why then, should they spoil it by turning 3D? They had found something that works, and although change is always good, as long as it's for the better. However what Oddworld Inhabitants have succeeded in doing here is producing a game with an awkward grip on camera movement, that is, if the camera's moving, you're not; this results in a frustrating effort to line yourself up with jumps or other tasks, such as swimming inbetween 2 mines. *munch munch* Going back to graphics, whatever happened to them anyway? The scenery is so ugly by comparison! Little rock here, a lump of trees there and a randomly placed bush with sky as a background. *munch munch* Rescuing the mudokons was always a favourite aspect of the games, but this time round, they might as well throw them all at you. They're not as well hidden as before and makes it seem more compulsory than a hidden task. *munch munch* So many things from the original 2 games the producers have added, that in all honesty doesn't do anything for the gaming experience. They've taken away too much of what made the games special! Although the game is enjoyable to a certain degree, newcomers to Oddworld won't find this game much fun for long, doing the same repetitive tasks over and over, and old fans will be disappointed. *munch munch* Scrab cakes anyone?
