Super Paper Mario

Super Paper Mario - Wii

Skip, Rent, or Buy?: Super Paper Mario

Skip, Rent, or Buy? Ah, the continuation of Paper Mario. Alas, its here... (should of reviewed just a 'lil earlier) Anyways, we all know Paper Mario. RPG in Mario style, but this game takes a twist. Prolouge: In the beginning, you are in the mushroom kingdom with your brother Luigi. As you meet up with Bowser, You see a mysterious villain, Count Bleck. You get transported into a mysterious village called "Flipside". Somehow, Merlon appears there (that old guy really likes to follow you, huh). In the game there are two books, The light Prognosticus and the dark Prognosticus. The Dark one Count Bleck owns while the light one Merlon owns. The dark one says that the owner will rule the world and Bowser and Princess Peach will be married. The light one says a hero with a red hat, blue overalls, and a nice 'stache will defeat the owner of the dark Prognosticus and save the world. Want to find out what happens, play the game to find out more Gameplay Elements: Unlike other Paper Mario's, This one is not an RPG. It is a side-scrolling game where instead of stars, you look for Pure Hearts. As you get points from wiping out enemies, a certain amount will level you up, going by a pattern of Health, attack, Health, attack etc. Also, like everyone knows, you van flip into 3D. Lets say a huge pipe or wall was in your way... simply switch into 3D and its easy... you can also find hidden items and coins in 3D too as well as things for puzzles. As well as other PM games, you have a partner to aid you or help you basically in battle. Some can be better while others can go to hell. Also, like Paper Mario: TTYD, you can play as Princess Peach, Bowser, and one other character you'll need to find out yourself (I aint tellin, go play the game!). The thing about this is, you can switch during the game, each having a unique ability such as Mario flipping into 3D and bowser breathing fire. Graphics and soundtrack: The graphics people say "suck". But its supposed to look like that. In fact they are very HI-TECHNIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICAL (Funny part of game...) If you look at SSB (The first one) and paper mario... they were made at the same time... so the must look alike if Paper mario was in SSB... Now look at the Graphics... huge improvement... So in fact, they are amazing graphics, but they don't use the style every other game uses. The soundtrack is easy to say: its a "Mario soundtrack"... pretty damned good. Overall Grades: Gameplay: 4.5/5: Stunning... absolutely great, a little con is the easy gameplay... it isn't short but the enemies don't increase in buffness. Elements: 4/5: Unique and like the same layout of other mario games, but without the RPG style. You will discover some things that you dont like here and there (not being able to stay in 3D forever unless you beat Pit Of 100 Trails) Graphics and Soundtrack: 5/5: Amazing and sweet to the eye. Skip, Rent, or buy?: Buy: if you have pre-ordered SSBB yet, and you have $50 laying around, go and buy this and not galaxy (Galaxy is Super Mario 64 in space and with better graphics and new enemies...) ~M
