Rayman Raving Rabbids

Rayman Raving Rabbids - Wii

Rayman Raving Rabbids: Is it as good as the other mini-game compilations?

First off, there is about 10 mini-game compilations out for the Wii right now, this being one of them. The story mode for this new Rayman game is not very deep, basically the only story is, Rayman and his little bluish friends are kidnapped by the rabbids and Rayman is forced to entertain the hostile little rabbits through the playing mini-games until he is able to save all of his friends and escape, story mode basically goes like this, play about five mini-games, go back to your cell, change costume, repeat, and you do this for the whole length of the story mode. On the other hand the Score mode (just like a free play mode) is where most, if not all of the fun comes from. First you pick a three character name for yourself, next you choose how your Rayman looks, and then you are able select from a colorful variety of mini-games that you have unlocked through the story mode. There are about six different modes, workout, precision, get going, sports, one where you shoot rabbids with a plunger gun, and one where you have to control the timing of Rayman's dancing by matching the score zone with a rabbid (kind-of like guitar hero if there were only two colors.) The only two, marginally big, negative aspects of this game are the story modes lack of depth and the fact that a handful of mini-games aren't any fun at all and just feel like work. Now, is this game worth a purchase, if you are looking for a long, fun campaign mode complete with a meaningful story, then no, but if you are looking for a game to play this with a bunch of family and friends (which is basically what mini-game compilations are about) then, definitely yes. The more people you play with, the more fun it gets, this game definitely provides some extremely fun, chaotic times.
